Headlight Removal

Featured Replies

hi lads , how easy is it to remove drivers side headlight assy , been told u got to remove front bumper get bolts out is this true .

Easy. Remove the two self-tapping screws on top of the headlight unit. This will not be enough to remove the whole unit (there's another screw underneath), but it will give you a bit more finger space.

If its a MK1 like mine I did this:

- Remove the Drivers side wheel

- Remove the Wheel arch lining (3 or 4 screws, Really easy)

- This reveals one bolt on the underside of the headlight unit, Remove this.

- Remove the two bolts on the top of the headlight unit.

NOTE: You might have to remove a plastic cover above the front grill to access one of the top bolts on the headlight unit, But this again is just 2/3 plastic lugs.

I just wriggled under there to remove the lower screw. No need to remove wheels or arch liners. More info on this job here.
