''New Ford Capri'' ??

Featured Replies

In the 80's I was borrowing my dad's company cars. Similar experience on roundabouts in a Jag XJ6 4.2 , I got used to drifting it  quite quickly at age 17. Won't go into any detail with driving experience from 12-17.

  • Here's a very special Lotus Consul Capri. Ford never actually produced any of these since they opted to do a deal with Lotus for the Cortina Mk1

I don't think I'd hate it as much if it wasn't called a, 'Capri'. Those of us of a certain age will have very fond memories of that car, everything from the run out 2.8i special, to the 3 liter S that

Totally agree, as I drive about I can't help noticing that new cars look like they're desperate for a whizz or squinting at the road signs. Also, in keeping with modern society, most of them should cut down on the trips to fast food joints. They are definitely on the big side. Biggest villain the modern Mini, nothing mini about it.....ever.

I've said this before. I had a Y Reg Ford Focus 1.8 Ghia in Salsa Red for 15 years. It was and is the best car I ever owned for all the best reasons. Nippy, practical, safe, good looking. You actually wanted to drive it. Then it was ruined. And the culprits? Designers who watched way too many Transformer movies.

Back in the day cars were designed with passion and elegance. Some even tinkered with them on the drives of their homes. They were iconic pieces of art that people aspired to own. Now, unfortunately, just egg boxes kicked through PC world with some badges slapped on.

Luckily I've got less years ahead than behind and will not have to endure the demise of the decent car for much longer. Meantime I'm going to spend some time trying to find a Tardis and go back and buy that Focus again.

PS. The photo of the Capri on this Forum reminded me of something. I just got it.

Thunderbird 4.

Reviews of the new Capri are starting to appear. Perhaps not surprisingly, it gets similar comments to the Explorer - decent enough EV, if you can get past the name.

interesting that the most expensive version is around £57k. Just been watching Fifth Gear I'd recorded earlier and VBH testing the Mustang "Dark Horse", which is slightly cheaper.

Now, if you had a spare £55k to burn, which would you go for?

I'd budget £10,000 on buying a proper used car, maybe a BMW, Mercedes or Porsche, then head off to the sun for a while LOL

I wouldn't buy a ford of any flavour £55k or 55p.

With budgetary changes announced am now even more confused as to which way to jump. My current will get more and more expensive on the VED front till am priced off the road. And the EV changes offer no help.
