Ford Focus 2022 ST Stop-Start

Featured Replies

Hello everybody,

I am looking for a way to disable the stop-start function in my car - SEMIpermanently.
Whenever I start my Focus, I always use the Auto Stop-Start button to switch the function off.

I need a solution that would eliminate the need of remembering of using that button.

The ideal option would be if the car was switching on with the stop-start disabled and the option to switch it back on with the button.

The other way would be to switch it off via a code. I was also thinking if there was a cable that could be disconnected and would have that outcome?

With all those ways I would need the computer not to get weird and show me a bunch of issues on the dashboard (I am obviously OK with the crossed Auto Stop-Start logo icon).

Ford says they can't do it. The reason behind it is that the design of the car was that it meets the eco criteria (save the Planet!).

I am doing 48+MPG (UK gallons) = less than 5.8 l/100km. If I watch the consumption, I can get above 50 MPG. That means I don't need to be more eco-friendly at the cost of the parts in my car getting used up quicker.
I am based in the NE of the UK (Durham). I can travel if it would be needed to get to someone who could implement a solution for me.

I think these devices probably consist of a simple timer that operates a relay connected across the Stop-Start button to simulate a button press every time the ignition goes live and the starter is operated.

Personally, I don’t find it too big a deal to disable stop-start using the (a) button, which I invariably & habitually do when setting off in my Focus. On the odd occasion where I forget and suddenly realise that my car has ‘stalled’ at a junction I just poke the button!

The forMod hack does look interesting, but don’t think I’ll try while my warranty remains active.

You can only "MAP" out Stop/Start on a Ford, unfortunately

I have it coded out on my BMW

As mentioned, @unofix had a sort of box you connected but other than that it's press the button or remap it off

You are absolutely doing the right thing by deactivating it though👍🏻
