White smoke after sustained 60 mph

Featured Replies

Good morning everyone,

I have a 2.0 TDCI 2014 Ford S-Max with 265,000 miles. It started started producing white smoke but normally it only occurred when accelerating after a run. Lime pulling away from roundabouts after coming off the dual carriageway.

I tried changing the fuel injectors but this hasn't fixed it. I have also changed the DPF fuel vapouriser as it became coked up. I have no fault codes or rough running as such but fuel consumption is higher than usual.

Has anyone had this issue before or got any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

A bit confused as your thread from 2023 looks similar, @TomsFocus mentioned the inability of standard OBD readers to get all codes:

Has this aspect been looked at and what has happened since '23 other than injectors (changed without evidence?)
Vaporiser obviously needed changing but live data needs looking at?

I think, with that much mileage on it, it's had it

Hot compression test would be worth doing to check whether it is just worn out.

But if compression is good and injectors are new then I'd be looking at the fuel pressure regulator next. That's likely sticking open after a long run and allowing too much pressure to reach the injectors at lower speeds. Rail pressure desired vs actual can be checked using diagnostics.
