  • Just  spotted the greenish signs of corrosion on one of the photos

Looks like just the thermostat housing.  Cheap fix if it is.

should I try and get the garage to fix it and carry on

It's definitely diesel leaking, not coolant. I'm assuming this wouldn't be the thermostat housing, if that's the case?

Judging by the pink residue on the stat housing, that probably has also been leaking at some point.

There aren't any diesel lines in that area.  I suspect it's coming from the top of the engine and then running down.  Would recommend getting the engine cover off to look at the injectors.  If it runs fine with that amount of diesel leaking then it's not coming from the high pressure side.  Probably a leak off pipe that's come loose.

First time poster! Took my 64 Smax into my local garage for a diagnostic and this brought up “Lost communication with TCM” and “Lost communication with steering angle sensor” They directed me to Ford as they thought it would be a module that isn’t communicating and they needed to use specialist equipment. Long story short, they have recommended a new Gearbox which is coming in at £5325 which is not sitting well. Earlier this year I had to replace the DPF as it was an MOT failure, which cost £1300, in addition to recently replacing all the pads, disks and suspension (why do these things always come at the same time???). My question is, is it worth advertising as spare parts or do I send it on its way to the garage in the sky? Car is approaching 123k but it’s on a ticking clock before it finally goes. Any ideas are welcomed 😁

So I'm guessing both of those were "Ux xxx" DTC's

I think before spending any more money on the car it's time you bought a vLinker FS cable and started to do some investigation using FORScan.

Lost communication codes are not by themself an indication of a failure, especially a gearbox !!!

Get the DTC's using FORScan and we can advise on how to proceed.

FORScan (for use with Windows Laptop) : https://forscan.org/download.html

It's what many Ford owners use including some Ford technicians.

OR

For diagnostic use only:

Hi all.

the data and power parts of these 2 USBs has suddenly stopped working. Nothing has been affected and the nearby cigarette lighter is working fine.

Could this be a fuse? If so which one and which fuse box would this be?
if unlikely to be a fuse, any other ideas of what it could be?
