ambient lighting mate. it's basically a courtesy light with 2 small red leds built in that shine down when the engines running to create a soft glow over the gear leaver.

see Haz93's thread here for a photo of what it looks like:

http://www.fordowner...arine +lighting

looking at like 80quid though for a new unit unless you lucky to see one pop up on ebay but thats rare

It's also classed as ambient lighting.

It's small led's positioned in such a way as to enhance the appearance of the inside of a car and sometimes shine onto consoles and switches.

I have them in my courtesy light and they shine down onto my centre console/gear stick when I turn on my side/headlights.

I was delayed in posting my reply because I was getting my eBay link to the unit copied across.

Lucky, not many have it without having to pay silly prices for them.

(Face palm) oh dear what is the forum coming to :(

Haha

Yeah I have done a guide on fitting the ambient 'submarine' lighting for just a few quid, is just a soft red glow as said before.

The guide looks really useful, thanks for that.

Couple of questions....

I don't want to try adding the LEDs to mine as from past experiences, I tend to trash it, and I will be left with nothing....

Are there any UK suppliers of the light fitting with the ambient LEDS?

Secondly, and most importantly, does the wiring already exist for the ambient part of the light fitting? Or would I have to run new cables to power these?

Thanks

You will most likely have to run a cable to the headlight switch as shown in the guide, mine had a wire going to the led circuit but turned out it was dead :(

A bit of banter gets us through long nights.

Keeps me sane at work anyway.

I'll be quiet now... People are beginning to talk :(

True about the banter though
