Bluetooth Install Guide?

Had a thought gents. After getting the wrong retro fit cable for the Bluetooth VC USB module I noticed that the cable has the mic connector. But it wasn't long enough to reach all the way up to my mic. Now when the newer retrofit cable arrives I guess the mic cable also won't be long enough. So I traced the current cable I have from my interior light.post-19574-139030461172_thumb.jpg

With mic attached.

When the new retrofit cable arrives. How do I connect it up?

9. Wires go into this grey connector but only 3 come out.

 you have the same wiring as mine. mine is a March 2009-build Titanium, without the glovebox area wiring but with seemingly, the mic wiring. Same connection on the A pillar - grey plug. I'm presuming that I'll need the or a retrofit loom, but what about the mic and associated loop looms etc? All seem very confusing lol. I'm only after BT not the USB or VC options

  • I installed my USB module and now USB/Bluetooth audio works :) As expected, the voice control does not work but this is going to be fixed at a later point in time Thanks for your support!

    I can't believe after all this time it was the wrong cable that was causing the problems. Andy (Gothic Rebel) thank you so much for actually having a solution that works! Plugged the new retrofit lo

  • Hi Andy, I did a guide about upgrading from just bluetooth to bluetooth and usb. Not exactly what you're after but there maybe some info in there that will help you out: http://www.fordownersclub.co

instead of splicing in to the loom by the pillar, would one of the 'loop connectors' work better?

There is no need to change the VIN number. A module with a different VIN number will also work fine on a Focus MK2/MK2.5. The only thing that must be configured is the vehicle type. A module from a Mondeo MK4, S-max/Galaxy, Fiesta MK7 or Focus MK3 does not work correctly in a Focus MK2/MK2.5 C-max MK1.5 or Kuga MK1 because these vehicles use a different configuration.

I sell a lot of used Bluetooth/Voicecontrol modules. On these modules I delete the VIN number (change the VIN number for zero's) and configure the modules for the correct vehicle type the buyer wants. This way the modules are plug and play.

@JW1982

I plane to retrofit my ford MK3 2011, no sync and stuff needed, just Bluetooth for phone and music. I currently have the standard cd unit which already have an USB and AUX-in. Can you please advise what type of module should I buy. Here you are talking about 8M5T-19C112-AN, AP, AR, AS, AT but in my country I can find 8M5T-19G488-AH, AL, BK.. Does it matter if it is an Mondeo or Fiesta module as long it has USB I could program it with ELM and it should work. Am I right?

Please give an advice. Thank you very much.

You current radio is a Low Level audio system. The Low Level Focus MK3 audio system does not support Bluetooth/Voicecontrol.

If you want to retrofit Bluetooth/Voicecontrol to a Focus MK3 that has the Low Level audio system you have to replace the complete audio system and install the missing wiring:

To do this you need the following parts.

* ACM (Audio Control Module).
* FCDIM (Display).
* FDIM (control panel)

* Bluetooth/Voicecontrol module (either part number 8M5T-19C112-xx or CS7T-14D212-xx).
* Steering wheel radio control switch with VOICE button.
* Dashboard wiring.

Thanks for the info.

I already retrofitted the display and the control panel. I have now the 5" display with navi and the 0-9 key control panel with navi. So here no problem, everything is working great.

Is it really necessary to change the ACM (Audio Control Module) (aka CD unit)? From what I understood from the wiring diagram the Bluetooth module only use CAN+, CAN-, GND, Power and the AUX-in port from the cd unit. All this signals are also present on the standard cd unit. The wiring from the module to the cd unit is no big deal, I can do it myself, no need to by patch cable.  The only problem remains if this standard cd unit will have the necessary commands to control the Bluetooth module. Otherwise I have to upgrade the cd unit with the one with two big black connector, right?

Voice is not necessary so no need for steering wheel radio control switch with VOICE button.

Can the part number 8M5T-19G488- ... also be used?

Can you please give further advise to this scenario?

Thank you very much.

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a Ford C-Max MK1 (late production year: 2010) and it came with the Blaupunkt NX unit, but it didn't support BT audio streaming and playing music from USB flash drives. So, I did some research and replaced the Bluetooth module and that solved the above two things, but I have two more issues I need to address, and I'm hoping you can help:

1) When making a call, I can hear the other person well on car speakers, but they can't hear me;

2) Voice control also doesn't work.

Looks like both things are related to the microphone.

The original bluetooth unit that came with the car is 8MPT-19G488-CN, and I replaced it with 8M5T-19C112-AT. I have updated both the NX unit and bluetooth module with latest firmware, and changed the settings and updated the VIN number for the BT module in elmconfig, but that didn't help.

I do have the microphone installed near the interior light, but someone mentioned that there are two different BT/VC systems:

Also be aware that there are 2 different Bluetooth/Voicecontrol systems. The Old Bluetooth/Voicecontrol system which was installed in the Focus MK2 and early MK2.5 models did have Mono sound and the modules could not be updated. The Newer Bluetooth/Voicecontrol system which was installed in Focus MK2.5 models produced after about 08/2008 did have Stereo sound, modules with and without USB/A2DP. Both the newer modules with and without USB/A2DP can be updated using the Ford audio update and a suitable (USB) cable. Wiring and modules of the old and newer Bluetooth/Voicecontrol system are not interchangeable.

Could it be that the original microphone is now not supported by the new BT module? If so, can someone confirm that and provide a part number for the microphone that would work with my updated unit?

Thanks in advance guys!

the later module wasn't just plug and play it had a much bigger 54 pin socket - and there was also madness around patch leads up the inside for the front door pillar with different ones for different setups

and if all that was done - did you turn it on in the module?

@Botus Thanks for the quick reply!

You seem to know what you are talking about so I hope you don't mind If I pick your brains 🙂

My old BT module (8MPT-19G488-CN) and new one (8M5T-19C112-AT) basically look the same - both have a 54pin socket, but the older one does not support USB and BT audio. It was a straight forward change.

I'm not sure which of those patch leads are in my vehicle, unfortunately. Where are they located? Are they behind the NX unit? If so, I can pull it out and take a look.

I did turn on the highest possible option for SRM in elmconfig - can't remember the exact text, but it was something like "BT/VC High + USB + BTAudio + Navi".

Thanks a lot for the wiring diagram. If I can't get the original mic working, it looks like I could tap into pins 3 and 4 and connect a different mic... Or is that not a good idea?

left door pillar left of the glove box... and up to the screen pillar trim - there was once a very long thread on playing with these - but the link I kept to it is now dead - it had some info on the silly links - I have no idea which is which, it had some explanation in the old thread and I seem to recollect its all about the Mic

see if there is a tutorial on this site - maybe its hidden in there - I never found it helpful as it was all about if you have the loom - or want to give for 200+ quid for one - when you can DIY using a Chinese bit of tat off a VW and an hour playing for £40

isn't an NX headunit a Nav version ? if it is why would you not try the BT/VC High + USB + BTAudio + Navi

BT = Bluetooth
VC = Voice control (and of course needs the button on the column remote radio thing - its an utter waste of space - but cheap and 1 min to fit if sad)
USB = USB
BT audio = streaming
Navi - I guess it requires some additional madness for units that have that feature - if its one of these don't forget it will work better on its last update
and the BT box of tricks got an update too - makes it connect up back to front like modern devices do + loads of bug fixes

used to get all that from https://fordcom.de/download-category/software-updates/ but seems dead

this says the silly link thing muddles up some audio not mic wiring - I'd start with software as its no effort - then check wiring after

I messed around with different settings for SRM module in elmconfig today, but couldn't find a combination that would make the microphone work.

Tried it, didn't work, but thanks for the tip. It probably has to do with that loom, but it's too cold outside now for any kind of mechanical work, and I don't have a garage, so C-Max will have to wait for a brighter day.

That said, even if I find out what type of loom I have, I still don't have a clue which one I should replace it with and I certainly don't plan on investing 200 quid for it. So, I'll probably try to tap into pins 3 and 4 of the BT module and connect a mic there, when I'm in the right mood to remove the glovebox again...

Yes, NX is updated to 5.3 version, which is the latest one. And BT module has also been updated.

Thankfully, there's a website named 'Wayback machine' where you can (with a bit of luck) still access some of those dead pages. That's how I sourced the BT update files -  the original site is dead, but Wayback machine has a copy from August 2013. I'm not 100% sure if those are the latest available files, though, but maybe someone will find this link useful.

ever considered the mic is dead ?

Absolutely, that was the first thing on the check list. Tried another mic and got the same result.

see if the wires actually are on the correct pins in the SCM - if they are consider the SCM could be dead - apparently that’s normal

nice reminder on the time machine - came across it looking for steves digicam reviews - shame he died - by far the best reviews on cameras anywhere
