Joining The Diesel World

Hello all.

As per the title, I'm converting from petrol. I've got a Mk1.5 1.6 Zetec which I love. However due to driving style and starting to do more distance I need to change her.

I'm going after a 2.0 TDCI Titanium (about a 10 plate) and was wondering what I should know or look out for with diesels and this version of Focus.

I know in general how diesels work and run. I've seen about the EGR valves and blanking them, (FOCA you need a pet parrot next to your keyboard!) which is something I will do straight away.

I know about the DPF's and how to avoid getting into trouble with them.

I was wondering if there is anything else I should know about before stepping into something new.

Thanks in advance!

Kye

The only thing to look out for that I can think of is the DMF depending on the mileage, but that goes with most diesels.

I will leave it to the others to point out any other things to pick up on a used car.

Otherwise the difference you are going to notice in torque should be pretty immense coming from a 1.6 NA petrol, have you test driven the 2.0 TDCi yet?

best bet is to look at the common issues thread, there is a few small niggles on there that irritate people! but to be honest, its a good car, and it really comes down to how well it was looked after before you take it on.

Hi folks.

Thank you for the replies. I guess it's all standard stuff and no that dissimilar from owning a petrol :). I've not test driven one yet. That'll come in time though. I'm expecting good things. And even bigger and better things once the EGR is blanked and tuning box added.

Just need to get the money together to get one. :)
