Just had a quick read of the reviews for the FK coilovers I was looking at. They're on sale at 108. 120 with p&p. Some reviews say they're fantastic for the price (rrp 210). Others say they're horrendous.. so do I go for adjustable coilovers or 30mm lowering springs for £80 or eibach springs for 120.

I'm not really fussed about comfort.. it's a first car (well.. 1st/2nd) so ive not really driven anything else.. I'm after the stance.. which these coilovers apparently have to offer

Personally, I would go with the Eibach springs and it will lower the car to a reasonable amount. It will still be drivable and you will not need to crawl over speedbumps with the fear of scrapping the whole underside of the car. I use my car as a daily driver for long distances but your use might be different.

With coilovers, you sacrifice a lot of comfort but gain the stanced look. It will work well with the new wheels you plan on getting Do expect a harsh ride though. Ultimately, it's up to yourself and what you would like to achieve.

I have some independent knowledge id like to share with you mate,

Figured id introduce it this way so you don't feel I'm trying to steer you in any way or anything,

When fitting lowering springs,

You will need adjustable rear camber bolts to allow the rear wheels to be set correctly via laser alignment,

That's how lowering is done correctly meaning you get optimum performance aswell as no excessive tyre wear.

When fitting coilovers,

You need a front tower strut adjustable caster kit aswell as the adjustable rear camber kit, this allows adjustment of the front shock positioning to enable correct camber alignment at the lower than 35mm stance.

Via laser alignment,

Either spend it on the adjustable kits or spend it on tyres its going to be spent either way,

Cheapest in the long run is to spend it on camber kits,

Boy racers go for the looks, get featured in magazines then move on to the next car,

They don't keep it long enough to see the results,

If fitting the adjustable kits and laser aligned all will be 100% no problems,

If i was you,

Id go for adjustable coilovers,

Because i personally think; 35mm isn't low enough when your rolling 15" rims that entail a 55mm profile tyre,

Your ride height on 35mm springs would be more like a 50mm height,

If you fit adjustable coilovers you can set the ride height at 25mm for example,

This will give you 35mm stance in respect of the tyres and achieve the stance you want while still coping with speed ramps.

I'm not diminishing those rolling 15" or 16" wheels neither, the unsprung mass of anything bigger on a fiesta would wreck the clutch aswell as sacrifice performance,

They are what it needs,

I'm just saying how you can live with and work with it,

For some new bushes, be a good time to fit them when changing the shocks preventative maintenance.

There's always going to be debate on lowering reviews as some people have no patience or care to slow down and expect everything now others understand what there doing and take the time to do it rite,

When you understand you appreciate the differences.

That's not a dig at anyone please no paranoia I'm just explaining the way reviews can be quite divide.

Ok you wont be able to take a speed ramp at 50 but you will be able to take a roundabout :)

I've already got the powerflex ready to reinstall in the rear sub frame! Looking forward to that.

As for all the above, it pushed me towards coilovers simply for adjustability! But then, I checked online. The set I wanted are now 160 and are not available until September... Too late for Ford fair.. :( gutted

And now for the downside of today. I returned to the dirt car park to find the car covered in a thin but very visible layer of sand/mud/dust. Started to drive home and the rain started.. great! I thought, hopefully most of it will wash away courtousy of the wax. I was wrong :(

I was hoping for a lie in before work at 12 tomorrow.. looks like I'll be up washing the car now! I did have more pictures but they're refusing to upload

Haha!! The local council aut to pay me for cleaning the street.. the road is on a slight gradient either side of my house so all the snowfoam etc drags alot of dirt off the road! Haha. It's gotten to the point that there's a visible difference in the right light..

The car + dirt is really sending me insane! After the swirl removal I'll probably seal it with either Shine & drive Finalise Pro, or CarbonCollective Paint. Then wrap it up in cotton wool and bubble wrap

Knowing the Council mate there more likely to blame you for blocking the drain or send out the EPA to test the water for traces of chemicals which would be contaminant to sea life

New rear plate fitted.. after I accidentally pulled the old one off.. and didn't have anything to stick the new one on on with. Had to wrap my rear wiper blade in a microfiber cloth then zip tie the old plate to it. Meant to get a picture but was in a rush

Makes the back of the car look loads better! Did all the difficult bits of my rear view camera install earlier. Got all the cables run, just need to run the signal wire from the back lights to the headunit

Ignore all the white grease and grime.. Haha, going to steamclean it and relube in due course

Lenny, I can't seem to find adjustable camber bolts for my car anywhere. If I got a set of coilovers I wouldn't have to mess with any of the extra stuff would I? :)

May have found another set that's taken my eye.. only thing is it'll blow my mod budget for next month :(. Hmm...

Also, after spending so much time sorting the reversing camera.. it makes the rear of the car look cr4p :(.. and it no longer shows a proper image.. May remove the actual camera and leave the wiring in place for now.. a bit of silicone sealant in the hole for the time being I think

Days like this I wish I had a dashcam... I pulled into the girlfriends road earlier to be greeted by a woman walking out in front of me. I couldn't stop in time so I swerved around her whilst braking. This left me stopping about a foot away from a mk2.5 focus which was leaving the road. I then stopped and waited for the woman to move and reversed out of the road to let him leave. He refused to move out of the road until I had reversed out of a T junction and blocked the road for everybody. He then put his window down and crawled past shouting at me in terrible English . I drove on to the end of the dead end to turn around.. whilst I was driving down I saw his reverse light come on.. and he reversed back down the road and parked up (wasn't he just going somewhere?). As I started to go back up the road he looked at the car then proceeded to start walking into the middle of the road. I just accelerated past him before he had chance to what looked like try boot my back door. Funnily enough when I returned he had gone out again? So here's me.. now not being about to park outside the girlfriends house. What a joy!

Yeah if I had hit him it would have been my fault. But at the same time, I Did NOT hit his car, I avoided both possible collisions yet hes still decided to take a dislike to my car..

Finally decisions for next month..

I'm yet to get a quote for all the paintwork so I can't make an actual decision, but I've narrowed it down to 2 things with a final backup plan .

1.)get the front and rear bumpers, and the replacement wing smoothed and painted. New front plate fitted.

2.) Fit some Eibach pro lowering springs

Final backup, which I might do as well as one of the above depending on funds.. order some hydrodipping film (subtle carbon) and some activator and have a go at dipping myself. If it turns out badly at least I can say I tried! If it turns out well.. then all the corsa driving friends will be knocking on the door

Btw, did you decide against the coilovers in the end? What made you change your mind?

Honestly starting to think I'd be better off the road.. haha & it'd look a bit odd just doing the rat look on 1 panel and the bumpers.. would just be more like a scrappy job

In the end it was simply lack of funds for the next few months that put me off coilovers. I might upgrade next year.. but at the same time I may be able to afford a mk7 ;).. all depends on wether my plans hold up.

If i upgraded the girlfriend would be keeping my current car! Ive got her onboard the Ford fanboat at the minute.. so if i uograded she'd hoepfully drive the car to ford fair next year :D

watching this scene in the cinema the other week almost brought me to tears. Fast and furious is what fueled my love for cars.. Yeah the alst few films got worse and worse but the 7th was a fitting tribute to paul.

So next year has now been decided. I won't be upgrading to a mk7. I will however, be bagging the mk6 before 2016 Ford fair!!!!!! :D
