I don't like the prospect of Labour coming into power.

I also don't like the fact I have to wait until 11th June to start my summer holiday!

Waiting till 14th June for me. A week doing a tour of Scotland though and that I am looking forward to

Sounds lovely. June is a busy month for me! My mums birthday is on the 14th, mine is the 18th, then on the 19th I'm off to Crete with my mum for a week, then on the 30th I'm off to the U.S. with my dad. Should be fun!

U.S?? You lucky thing!!

Must-do: Don't come back without renting and enjoying a Mustang or some other big Ford ;)

Well you'll be pleased to know that during the trip we are driving from Las Vegas to L.A via Death Valley and the Grand Canyon, and should be getting a convertible Mustang! :D Will try and take some decent pictures and post them here...

Then on my return I have a full 5 days in the UK before I'm off to Cyprus to inspect my dads new villa that's he's just bought...can't wait to finish my exams!

Sounds like heaven haha.

Your a lucky begger Chris...

Not the time to say I'm off to Cyprus in a couple of weeks then? 8)

Begger off Clive I'm beginning to think you spend a much time there as you do on patrol lol

Can't say I blame you, my uncle loved it, God rest his soul. He ad there and suffered heart and lung failure. He made it back up but lost the fight here. I know he would have died a happy man knowing e had just come back from there

No point, they can indicate and still stuff it up. I find people are very good at indicating left to go straight on, because they think they need to indicate at least one junction before.

They do the exact opposite up here! Indicate right to go straight ahead! ie 2nd exit on a 4 way roundabout. Does my head in especially when I've had to bring 30 odd tons of truck to a complete halt to allow the 'indicating right' vehicle to cross in front only for it to indicate left at the last minute and exit from the junction I'm sitting at!!!!! :censored:

It's a guessing game here some do right some do left, I often find myself flooring it on roundabouts just in case. Another favourite is people in the left lane taking third or fourth exit on a two or three lane leading to a roundabout

I went to Cyprus once...

I was there for a whole 6 hours. 3 minutes of which was spent actually stood on Cypriot soil lol

Obviously I'm not you... But from my armchair, if I was you, I'd get more cameras than big brother and just pull out.... They're hardly going to make a rubber streak on the side of your truck... They will however (if they stop) make a considerable streak elsewhere in an item of their clothing...

North or South Cyprus though chaps? ;)

North or South Cyprus though chaps? ;)

Definitely South.

The North side is more old fashioned.

Allow Northern Cyprus, properly dilapidated place under military rule, should be retaken imo. thieving soldiers looted the place too when everyone left.

Beaches at Limmasol are lovely.

If you want to see the chaos Turkey caused just visit Famagusta.

Fenced off and left to rot.

I love Northern Cyprus! My dad has been going since just after the invasion, it's lovely there, the people are friendly (much nicer than the Greek Cypriots IMO) in the last few years Turkey has injected a lot of money into the North, meaning it's still nice and small but is also well into the 21st Century. Another benefit is that it's quite a bit cheaper than the rest of Europe as its on the Turkish Lira. :D

That's only a small stretch of no mans land. The deal was rather fair IMO as Greece still has around 3/4 of the island because of its larger population.

Tell that to the poor beggars that got turfed out of their houses by the invaders.

Indeed, but from what I've been told the Greeks were pretty savage to the Turks, so I guess it's all rather complicated. The Greeks are still bitter to this day, I can see why but it won't help anything, I can't see the island becoming one again for the foreseeable.

I would recommend the North though if you want a relaxed holiday in the sun which is a bit more off the radar than other European destinations. ;)

The Greeks were Savage to the Turks? lest we forget that Turkey was in fact formed by a Greek, Mehmet Ataturk, born and raised in Thessaloniki. part of the Ottoman Empire at the time, quite well known that the Ottomans at the time quite heavily supressed the Greeks and they are most definitely not friends and never ever were. that sounds like something a NCYP resident would say though.

Turkey to this stay is still quite happily supressing minorities via Violent means ( Kurds ) regardless of what the PKK has done in the past.

Also it's not recognised by any nation other than Turkey, it's illegitimate by all means and an illegal invasion. would have been different if they weren't independent at that point no doubt though. It's not a nice place at all, been there with old company several times, Horrid, no infrastructure and I say this with 100% honesty, eat in the hotels at your peril, there is no authority to regulate anything there except security ( Police only ) let alone the standards of safety to the public, like the FSA we have.
