My previous comment was aimed at the drivers that slam on the brakes all of a sudden when going at 30/40MPH, and deliberately choose to give way to allow pedestrians to cross the middle of a busy road, where they are in fact "jaywalking", a punishable offence in some jurisdictions.

Raider32 mentioned that the BMW had deliberately stopped to let someone cross, which caused an accident in the process, showing exactly why nobody should engage in this kind of behaviour.

Namely Stoney, what is the law on stopping at these? say if cyclists on the pavement and trying to use a zebra crossing, do I have to stop if they are still mounted on the cycle?

Every other country I have been to ( a full passports worth of stamps and then half of another one all different ) you never have to stop at these things, HAVE being the key word, it's a place to stop and cross but by no means stamp the pedal through the bulkhead at the first sniff of someone crossing. Odd country this place.

Technically failing to stop I'd an offence though moreso only a picky policeman would punish you for it.

At the end of the day if you don't stop, yes you have committed an offence but only a peeved pedestrian and a lack of any evidence would mean that nothing would happen. Though if you knock someone off the crossing cyclist it otherwise then you can expect any punishment thrown lol

I always stop and wait for the cars to stop. I dread to think the number of times I would have been killed if I hadn't.

It's down to choice, fail to stop and run the risk your caught out breaking the law or just slam the anchors on.

I go on the basis of safety. I have gone straight on at a zebra crossing if someone has walked from the inside edge of a wide footpath straight to the crossing! (that's like crossing a four lane carriageway in my opinion lol) but I could have stopped and caused a big accident. It's not safe so I didn't do it.

I live near a council depot and a primary school, the bin men ride in packs of half a dozen along the pavement and the number of times I've seen them nearly knock young children over is ridiculous.

I'd go down the technicalities route and argue that energy has to be exchanged and in the process, he's emitting CO2.

3rd party is a good idea, any cyclist causing an accident in the USA would be sued stupid over it, over here they'd walk away scot free. we've all seen that fool who mowed down a child the other day on the news, should be banned on the paths altogether, instant £100k fine and 6 months hard labour working the M25 cleanup operation......in the DARK AND RAIN!

I didn't know this at all as people do this all the time and even police who are on bicycles do it too

And 2bh i really don't mind as a pedestrian or a car driver as never really seen the issue at all because when cycling near people just slow down to 1mph or jump off when 2many people which all of the cyclists do in ma area and rather have them do this rather than blocking up our roads and actually we have pavements for pedestrians with cycle lanes near junctions to keep the cyclists off the road

That could be a good idea but it would probably be a few £ per year based on how unlikely a cyclist is to cause serious injury or damage compared to car drivers. But the problem is you'd have to force all cyclists to have number plates or something, which would be more trouble than it's worth and would put off lots of people from cycling (causing them to use cars instead and making the roads worse for everyone).

My word, yesterday was unbelievable... I flashed more than a professional streaker!

Left hand lane was completely empty and some woman (it wasn't just a gender specific crime) was sitting there in the middle lane doing 60!

And because it was heavy traffic (but still flowing at 50-70) you get the usual numpties in lane 3 driving nose to tail at about 65, whilst lane 1 and 2 is spotted with a few cars and trucks!

It got very very funny when me, a beetle and a hyundai decided to drive normally - when left lane was clear we moved over, then overtook in the middle lane, moved back to left lane... meanwhile the geniarses in the 3rd lane were oblivious!

I don't like YouTube 'Review' videos that are just a slideshow of promo images with rubbish music,

I also found a new annoying review fail while looking at LG G4 reviews this morning,

someone has just captured images of a website review page and made them into a video ffs.

If I want images I'll Google them, if I want a review page I'll Google them,

I don't care if someones real review is rubbish, atleast they bothered to make real content,

Making slideshows of images and pages is just cheap, lazy and just looking for attention.

Marques Brownlee and Android Authority are probably the best reviewers for Android devices on YouTube.

Yeh I've seen a few of his videos before now on the HTC One, and he has a couple on the LG G4 which I've just seen,

Usually all the good ones like theirs are on the front page, just so annoying going into something that is utter rubbish.

^ I also looked at lots of reviews before I bought my phone, there are some good review sites for that sort of thing like techradar and trusted reviews.

And back to this topic, something I don't like is that phones can cost £500+ and become obsolete within months. That's why I only paid about £80 for mine and it does everything I need it to. It could do with a bigger screen and more internal storage but I'd rather not pay another £400 or so, that's money that could be spent on the car ;)

I actually agree with you there, I'm not a power user, but I want a new phone to be good with media, maps and my drone,

My phone is knocking 4 years old, it's a HTC Sensation and it needed a new battery after 2 years, but £17.99 later it's gone another 2,

That's now a major factor of buying any new phone, I want it to last more than just 2 years, there aren't many that offer changeable batteries.

I don't want to spend £600 on a phone which won't last a day on a full charge after a couple of years.

So after many reviews I'm set on a LG Phone, I prefer the look and slightly smaller size of the LG G3 over the G4,

I know there are cheaper and smaller models (G3S & G4C), but the 720p screen and lack of memory and power might struggle.

£490 for the LG G4 is alot, but that's not as bad as £600 for the true high end ones, I can get the G3 for £250...........aarrrgh decisions!!

I'm also don't like splurging out on brand new £500 phones.

Used to have a Sensation, but shortly changed it to a HTC One X (bought off eBay second hand, with remaining factory warranty), as the Sensation had dust underneath the screen, and the battery life was crap. Still rocking the HTC One X, was a smart purchase indeed.
