Fiesta St + Mp215 + What Else?

Featured Replies

Hi

Have owned a Fiesta ST3 for the last month, best car I've driven in 18 years of motoring. Got the Mountune Performance Pack fitted (MP215); makes an awesome car just that little bit more awesome...You'd be mad to not have it;)

Now I'm starting to think, hmm, what next?

I do like the look/sound of the Mountune Cat Back Exhaust, that's definitely on my list (sadly not in stock at the moment). If you have this exhaust fitted, would you recommend it? I am aware that the stock exhaust has to essentially be 'cut-off', which has me a little nervous, I'll be leaving that to a garage methinks...

I'm also thinking of getting the Mountune High-Flow Induction Hose (a nice red one). Looks very easy to fit and, if the claims are to be believed, makes first to second gear & general power delivery that little bit smoother. Being somewhat of a newbie to modifying cars, I am wondering if I will be able to fit this hose easily. I know my way around some basics, but an online video makes it look like I could cope quite easily. Sadly, at the moment, they don't have the hose clips in stock, but I'm sure they will soon. Again, anyone got this hose fitted & would they recommend it?

Thanks for any advice.

Chris

  • The big hose on top is the induction hose, you can't really see the boost pipes from above.

  • It won't increase power by more then a couple hp if any with the cat in place. But even with a sports cat or decat you won't see hp increases without a remap after fitting. The turbo will spool quick

  • Got it done yesterday and it's amazing as I expected :) I think it sounds best at low revs when you can actually hear it over the road noise. It's not rediculously loud and that's a good thing, espec

Ive got the hose on mine, is there much difference with it? Not much, possibly a bit more responsive and a bit more noise.

Very easy to fit even if youre not mechanically minded, you can use the original clamps without issue.

I can recommended the short shift though, pain to fit but the gear changes feel so much better.

Yes, a bit too pricey, but looks and sounds lovely, might be worth saving up for. I'll have to look for some online comparisons between the two.

I like the idea of the short shift, the throws aren't too bad in stock though, I don't mind it, probably makes me drive a little less hard;) I have read some very positive reviews about it, so it's definitely something I have in mind. I'm currently looking to do mods that won't affect the base warranty, so anything that might will most likely have to be put on the backburner for a couple of years at least.

It is highly tempting though;)

Saw a post on Facebook recently saying the short shift would soon be warranty friendly like it already is in the U.S.

Excellent! Then it shall be mine;)

I have the cat back mountune exhaust fitted to my ST3, & overall I'm well happy with it.

Does mountune use Milltek exhausts?

Yes for the mk6 ST and mk7 ZS, but the new ST exhaust is made in the states to their own design.

I'm waiting for the Mountune cat-back exhaust too and already have the MP215. I'm a little tempted by some of the hoses and other bits and pieces that don't affect the warranty, but I like to keep the car mostly stock. I think the MP215 and exhaust are the 2 upgrades which make the car what it should have been from the factory.

That's what I've got on mine.

Plus the Roll Restrictor.

Ordered the High Flow Induction Hose (Red) & Clips yesterday, looking forward to installing it.

Still waiting for that Cat Back Exhaust to be in stock; Mountune said it should be in later this month, fingers crossed.

I'm not going to try installing the exhaust myself, will most likely take it to the dealership where I bought the ST to get it fitted.

Has anyone used a garage/dealership to fit the Cat Back Exhaust? If so, how long does it take and what sort of labour costs have you experienced?

I had a local tyre & exhaust specialist fit my mountune cat back. Took them about 45 minutes & cost me £75.

I was quoted around £55 by my local Ford dealer, but can't remember how long they said it should take.

High flow induction hose arrived today, fitted in 5 mins, no prob;) For me, there's a definite increase in induction noise and I could easily convince myself that it's smoother and more eager feeling now;)

Just the elusive Cat Back Exhaust to get now.

Turbo back sports cat from mountune looks nice, hope they do one for the 1.0 or bring a Map upgrade to use the Milltek sports cat.

Agreed, looks rather lovely. I think it would void my warranty though. In time I will be adding more, just wish Mountune would make all their bits of kit with the 'doesn't affect the base warranty' spec included;) Took the ST out for a nice long B-Road drive this evening, some amazing roads round these parts. I definitely have to watch my speed though, I'm used to my old MX-5 1.8i; where I used to have to rev the nuts off it to get it going, the ST just keeps pulling. Since I had the MP215 upgrade it is so keen in 4th-5th that before I know it I'm hitting 80. It really does feel/handle more like a real wheel drive car, without a doubt it's the most fun car I've ever driven, a perfect companion for the Welsh roads (apart from the exceptionally bumpy ones).

On a side note: I was reading up about the Mountune Sport Spring Kit, something I would consider adding at a later date. Anyone had experience of these? I've read reviews that claim that they improve handling and soften the ride a little, which would truly be epic and something I might even consider voiding my warranty for;)

The springs are made by Eibach just sprayed mountune yellow, don't think it would void the warranty as Eibach is Ford friendly.

You need to post a few pics up.

Just spoke to Mountune regarding the sports cat for the ST, there planning a 230 upgrade to include the full exhaust.

Sadly no plans for the 1.0 sports cat((

Yeah, I saw the 230 upgrade, sadly adding certain parts of that upgrade would void my warranty, however, I have just been looking at the Mountune Alloy Intercooler Upgrade, with the Charge Pipe upgrade Kit as well. Neither would affect the warranty, so I'm definitely going to consider them.

My next question is, anyone had the Intercooler or the Charge Pipe Kit fitted?

This looks like something beyond my skill level to attempt to try and install them myself, so I would probably take it to the local ford dealer (hopefully they would know what they're doing;).

Any experience of having these parts fitted, time taken, labour costs etc...

They've been "planning" that upgrade for a long time lol. If we can get the other parts for the full exhaust without voiding the warranty I might think about doing that, but maybe the sports cat alone would void it.

Your right Phil, that upgrades gonna be a warranty crusher for the sports cat, but the cat back system should be okay. As for that intercooler its a bumper off install (the 1.0 was easy, it just dropped out the bottom after popping the top clip).
