I think it's still on the road. I sold it to a mate for the cost of 6months tax and he was going to strip it...never got around to it lol

Current car: Focus mk2.5, 1.8l petrol.

Much more refined drive, gives pleasure in a different way to the Punto. This is more satisfying to throw around rather than poo's and giggles

Interesting to see people owning a variety of marques in their driving lives.

2000 MK 1 Focus

2005 Vauxhall Astra

2007 C-max Zetec

2009 Mk 2.5 Focus Zetec

2012 Fiesta Titanium

2013 Focus Zetec White

2013 Focus Zetec Black Ecoboost

2014 Kuga Titanium

2015 Focus ST3 TDCi

It worries me a little that so many of us have strayed to the dark side perhaps it just makes us appreciate the blue oval more

It was and it wasn't.

On a wet road you were spinning the rear's (265/35 Falken 452's) in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and sometimes 4th, it would get 17mpg on a long trip, the screamer pipe started getting annoying (116db), getting out the car and smelling of petrol was unpleasant, the rather firm suspension+18's meant it could be a very harsh ride and at WOT hitting peak torque meant the back end stepped out.

BUT....

It went like stink, could hold 4th gear from 25mph to 142mph, stuck to the road like it was on rail's, would upset most things trying to race it and at WOT hitting peak torque meant the back end stepped out lol.

Especially good fun flying past convertibles with the screamer pipe going off out the side and flames shooting out the back as you lift off for the gear change :D

After owning 5 fords on the trott strayed to the darkside.. while owning 2 Mondeo's at the same time a mk 2 and a mk3 the mk3 ghia estate was swopped for a Volvo...0-60 6.3 secs...and what a learning curve that whole 2 months of t5 coupe ownership!! wrote off in a accident that..surprisingly wasn't my fault..

Sorry I swopped...the ride, apart from motorway straight was dire truly awful.. wallow wallow wallow..dive squat dive squat.... the mk2 v6 ghia x I owned at the same time handled 100 times better....the mk3 improved things .but not by that much..I reckon the mk2 has really nice almost neutral handling, so easy to predict and corrects instantly...the mk3 I have now is just a more grown up version...

I will never be tempted again...by the Dark Side...

In order:

P reg 1.3 Fiesta

R reg 1.8 Escort Gti

T reg corsa 1.7 diesel

Fiat Punto - can't remember age

W Reg Astra

M Reg Escort

06 Combo

02 Disastra - my best and favourite car, traded that in for the focus

Current one - 61 Focus Titanium Navigator 150

No bad for a 23 year old

The middle order might not be quite right as I chopped and changed quite a bit in the 90's

1: Ford Consul Classic (oh how I wish I had kept this)

2: Ford Zodiac 2.5 The rounded shape one (My first engine rebulid at age 14 when my father owned it)

3: Mk3 Cortina (Very modded and quick)

4: Mk4 Cortina Estate (rust bucket)

5: 1963 Hillman Imp

6: Citreon Safari 2400

7: Ford Corsair 2000E (brother in law wrote it off)

8: Morris Ital (with blueprint engine, I destroyed the gearbox)

9: Transit camper van (more of a family vehicle)

10: Ford Granada 2.8 Ghia (short lived as dealer did not declare some issues)

11: Ford Granada 2.2l V6 Estate (managed 267,000 miles before it died totally)

12: Mini 1300 auto something

13: VW Beetle 1300 (had it 4 months and didn't like it)

14: Ford Escort Mk4 1.6 Ghia

15: Ford Escort Mk6 1.6Si (still have and am working on)

16: Hyundai Coupe 2.0SE (mildly modded) Current daily drive

Might bring back some memories for some :)

KPG..we're all allowed a little indiscretion now and again..life and cars being the monopoly they are...I didn't turn full fordy till I was 30.. and after half a dozen blueys had a fling with a sexy Volvo coupe that didn't last very long at all..and quickly scurried back to a nice 1 owner top of the line Mondeo.. Ford Mondeo Mk1 1.8 TD GLX

Ford Focus Mk1 1.6LX

Ford Mondeo Mk2 2.0 Ghia X

Ford Focus 2.0 TDCi Ghia

Put the registration of my first car into the GOV.UK MOT HISTORY web page and was amazed to see it is still on the road.

XJY 117 - Sunbeam Alpine first registered 1st January 1963, it was black when I owned it in the 1970's but it is now white. Most of my other cars have gone to the scrap heap although a couple are still going and have done well over 100,000 miles.

I remember the number plates!

  • First car was N43 UTV - a Citroen AX 1.0 petrol, four forward gears. whom is now in the scrap heap in the sky.
  • Then LX54 XCR, a Fiesta, 1.25 Petrol, a grand little car and she is still on the road (having had about 50k miles added onto her since I handed her over)
  • Next came the Focus, NG55 HXO, Focus 1.6 TDCi, still also on the road, but I had to part company as I wasn't comfortable with e inevitable expense that was heading with the DPF.
  • Kia Cee'd (some here may remember her!) LD10 FYF, a grand little car, 1.6 petrol, the Focus away from the Focus! but she got to small for the family.
  • Next up to The Focus CMAX - OV55 NPJ, got shot as I was getting far too nervous of the gearbox.
  • Finally onto Mindel, **57 ***, my beloved Mondeo. Cant see her going anywhere anytime soon!
