Fuses linked to the ignition

Hi All,

I'm currently trying to find a 5amp fuse which I can wire in my dash cams fuse kit to which responds to the ignition and the reason I'm posting the question here is; I would normally used the cigartte lighter socket fuse, but it doesn't seem to respond to the ignition being switched off, as my current USB adapter for the dashcam shows power on the unit when the car is turned off.

 

Any ideas/comments would be greatly appreciated.

As far as I am aware, the cigar/cigarette lighter socket is on power hold for about 20 minutes after the ignition is turned off. That might overcome your objection to using it for a dash cam?

Yes, as long as they turn off I don't have a problem with that, but what is the logic/reason for leaving the power onto the socket for 20mins?

It's more like 90 mins before they power down. It's apparently linked to a jewel case fuse that keeps the socket live after shutdown and it also stops voltage spikes on startup. Most cars when started give off a short high voltage surge and then it settles, this takes aprox 0.35s so the jewel case delays power to the socket for a second. No,idea what the logic is though.

I can confirm that the socket will power down, mine is connected to the 12v socket amd has been for about 2 months with no drain.
