Is your UCDS the full version and does it have any tokens?

Okay so it was a license issue, cruise control now works, however it shows up in mph, when the car is in km/h (note this car was imported from the UK to Ireland) is this normal or is there a way to switch it to km

So I've found this setting in the as built config but not in direct configuration, just like cruise control changing the as built didnt work so I'm assuming I need to change it in the direct config. If anyone knows which value to change I'd appreciate it

Retrofitting Cruise Control to a Focus MK3.5 can be done without any problems. The procedure is exactly the same as the procedure for the Focus MK3. The only difference is the shape of the steering wheel. The Focus MK3 and MK3.5 Cruise Control system is basically the same. As a matter of fact the Focus MK3 and MK3.5 steering wheels are interchangeable.

A complete MK3.5 steering wheel with Cruise Control buttons should come with the correct steering wheel wiring. Apart from the activation process the installation should be plug and play.

Note that the FoCCCus software does only have limited support for the Focus MK3.5. Some BCM/IPC hardware version numbers are supported while other hardware version numbers are not supported. As an alternative the Forscan software can be used. However this requires the extended licence which can be obtained for free after registration on the Forscan website.

hello, I only have the little bit that sticks in the steering wheel, it includes the controls of the on-board computer, the one in the middle of the instrument panel and the keys of the Cruise control , does that mean I can install that bit and then with focccus or forscan I can enable it and it will work?

Hi all! This thread is incredible and great job to everybody that struggled through to get this far. I bought a focus 3 years ago and the only regret was not getting cruise control.

Having a read of this I'm more than happy that it can be done. So now I can either buy the UCDS kit or alternatively if anybody in Ireland has one. Happy to donate to the beer token fund. (UK based would mean taking the ferry and at that point it'd be more cost effective to buy the kit).

If I do go ahead (can see a steering wheel on eBay for ~£100) I'll condense the steps from everybody else and post back on here.

Is there is anybody in the north or south (Ireland) that has a kit and would be willing to help out? @Andrew8576??

Thanks in advance.

Hi all, according to the forscan website the new version is able to access the PCM on the 1.5 tdci to change the config so if it works there is no need to buy / use UCDS to retrofit cruise control, not yet tried it myself though...

Hi Tebba - thanks for the info - I can read the PCM As Built only certain values are writeable and without some way to decode (apologies I've not spent as much time on this as other I'm sure there is a way) I'm not touching the PCM without knowing what I'm changing.

Current state is that I've replaced the factory fitted steering wheel which had just bluetooth controls and Dash display controls. As mentioned in other guides the airbag was a bit fiddley but got there in the end WITHOUT force 🙂. Working with the airbag is a bit scary even with the battery disconnected.

Anyway - with FORScan installed I was able to use the BCM configurator to view and change the CC and ASL values but to no success.

NOTE: When I first checked with FORScan BCMii showed DTC B112B - after setting the values to with CC & ASL I ran a DTC check again and had a few warnings. Did a DTC reset cleared all trouble codes and they're not back, gone for good.

Hi Andrew8576,

I've actually ordered the kit from UCDS in Russia, I actually have a family member that has a transit with a rough idle and the recommended fix is a PCM update so UCDS should allow me to do that as well.

Anybody reading this forum. If you're anywhere in Northern Ireland and looking this done. Get in touch, happy to help!

UCDS kit arrived today and had the same success as everybody else on the forum -->> Direct Config of the ECU seems to be the ticket.

Again if anybody else in Northern Ireland or the Northern Counties of the Republic wants a hand with this give me a shout. Literally a 15 min job. Can do a full software update of all modules as well while at it.

Have you enabled ASL as well?

Try disable and re-enable - i know I had to write twice for mine to be enabled using UCDS. If you're using FORScan it might be the same - can't do any harm to try though?

Right, bit more progress this evening. My car is a pre facelift that had the 4 prong steering wheel with no cruise. I bought a pre facelift cruise button to do the job but when i was looking i bought a facelift steering wheel with cruise and fitted that. Ive turned cruise on as per the guides. I have not plugged in the pre facelift cruise switch and guess what.....it works. But the facelift switch does not.

Im guessing its down to the wiring. If anyone can help with facelift switch wiring compared to pre facelift that would be awesome.

Just a quick post to say I managed this today on my friends 2015 C Max using UCDS and thanks to this topic. I bought it from Russia so if anyone is in the York area and needs any assistance feel free to drop me a PM.

As mentioned before I've added CC switch(FINIS 1851411) to my existing steering wheel(SW).
Also worth noting that for Focus 3.5 ford doesn't supply wiring loom for CC however as you'll see in the next description there is a way to get around that.

You'll also need to cut a chunk of the steering wheel to fit new CC switch.

I’m intrigued by this part of your post Frank! Having been quoted £315 for a brand new ST steering wheel today, I’m thinking if I can do it cheaper!

How much of the wheel do you need to cut away and is it visible once everything is back together? I don’t really want to canabalise my wheel unless I have to.

Also, secondhand ST wheels are fairly expensive so my thinking is to buy a titanium wheel with cruise and transfer the switches and wiring over if that is possible?

Well i've managed to get myself a used ST wheel with the cruise buttons, just got to wait for it to come.

Is there anyone in the midlands area with UCDS that would be so kind to allow cruise on the car for me once fitted? (In exchange for some beer tokens of course!).

I'm looking at getting a steering wheel with cruise control, it's a 67plate  focus 1.0 ecoboost St line estate. I can fit it no problem it's just activating it that I will struggle with.

Is there anyone near Milton Keynes area/ Stoke on trent. With UCDS that would be so kind to allow cruise on the car for me once fitted?  Have some tokens ready.

Steering wheel is fitted and a local ford specialist activated it with IDS today, but still no cruise! Apparently its all set up in the BCM, but nothing happening when you press the buttons. There is power to the buttons as they illuminate, and everything else works.

Car is a 2015 Diesel ST2... can anyone shed any light on this please?!?!?!

Not sure if related, but several times when I've messed about in the cars config with Focccus or Forscan, for the next few ignition cycles afterwards the factory cruise on mine didn't work.

Always sorts itself out the next time I unlock the car though...

Thanks for that Phil, will see what happens with it tomorrow then!

Hi. Is anyone near Stafford willing to install in my 57reg Zetec please? Have the steering wheel and buttons. Don’t have time to learn the sw. config at the moment. Thanks.
