Steering assist malfunction - Service required

Featured Replies

So instead of paying fords rip off price of £1800 supply fit epas, I got a rack from Western power steering for £395 and garage to fit for £360. Saving myself over £1000, I would suggest if it's an intermittent fault check the 80amp fuse which supplies power to steering rack first, and the good think with Western power steering is they give a 2 year unlimited mileage warranty. Hope this might help someone.

sadly the issue you have is related to designed to fail trash ...just like every other manu, (except Japanese or Hyundai)

take it off and send to one of 5 UK based specialists that will fix it for 1/3 the price of a made to fail ford one, on return it will be one guaranteed for life

this nasty (what should be illegal way of stealing your money) started to be implemented in 1995 with 15 year horizon... by 2007 it was a 7 years one, and they are getting greedier each year. if it was built in germany in 2018 expect it to be DEAD by 2022

Any details of the 5 UK based specialists? please

Hi i’ve also had the same issue with my power steering module failing. i’ve fixed it now by using a forscan diagnostic tool($50) this is significantly cheaper then buying a replacement steering gear . i had to run the for scan software and reset the dtc codes . it fixed it right away

this one below is allegedly the best but they aren't listing PAS (ring?)

https://www.actronics.co.uk/products?page=1&manufacturers=20&models=693&types=611

this lot were BBA and again don't list PAS !

https://remanx.com/collections/ford

and again NO PAS - they explain the issue clearly

https://www.ecutesting.com/common-faults/ford/focus-c-max-power-steering-motor-fault/

....many claim a new main battery and clearing the code makes it go away (but if you read the link just above it shouldn't)

and ECU testing say buy spares from these guys

I have dealt with this problem several times and when I replace a battery I fully charge it out of the vehicle then fit it and then do a bms reset and it eliminates all faults
