OH MY GOD - might even have it is blue and not the more stricking colour of Squeeze . . lol

Hot!!!

Yeah how many of us would at least attempt to trade up - well as long as it does not arrive before Sept 2011 I might be able to get the other half to agree to an upgrade!

Noo you couldn't get rid of the Goblin! Although an ST in Squeeze would be gorgeous hmm..

Plus I hope it arrives before Sept 2011

On a review of the new focus just unveiled in Detriot this snippet caught my eye

"Meanwhile, rumours of an ST version of the Fiesta have firmed up with the news of the 180bhp EcoBoost 1.6. Testing is underway, with much work devoted to getting excess heat out of the engine bay because of the tight turbo installation. Will it happen? 'Well, such an engine would certainly go well in a car with stripes,' says Ford of Britain marketing chief Paul Thomas, who has driven a possible prototype. Sounds like excellent news to us."

When I picked my new Fiesta up on tuesday - my dealer confirmed all of the above is true & that an ST turbo charged 180 bhp Fiesta is 100% definitely on the way.

That's gonna be sweeeet!

Dealers aren't always the most reliable - just look at the varying opinions around here in this thread

The last dealer I spoke to said there would be no ST Fiesta. Others say yes ... some still say no ...

When someone from Ford says something along the lines of "Oh, here's our Fiesta ST, which will be available from x date", I will be convinced. Until then, I shall remain unconvinced

If it's going to happen i'm putting a deposit on one as soon as it's announced (now that i've started my new job selling vans (and cars) this week!)

:D

Think i'd go for one if they done it. Although I'm considering giving up biking for a bit - too many accidents that I've been extremely lucky with.

If I do that then I might even be tempted to go for a Focus RS.

The Focus RS (MKII) is a superb bit of kit, but for the money, you really can do a lot better. Don't get me wrong, they really are something quite special indeed - they really do drive well and certainly look the part.

But there are flaws, which I noticed very quickly after having sat in one.

Bumpers and body - the paint rarely matches properly, due to the luminosity of the paintwork on different materials. Plastic looks a whole few shades different to the metal body.

Interior - at the end of the day, it's a MKII Focus with damned nice Recaro seats. Worth £27k+? No, not at all. I have the MKII and while it's darned nice, it's hard to see why the RS is that much better inside, because it really isn't - same flaws that mine has with trim, albeit minor. You still wouldn't expect that though on that price.

Engine - a lot quieter than you'd think. The ST225 seems to be a bit more burbling to be fair. Good performance though.

As much as it pains me to say it, for the same money, you can get an Audi S3, which will tune well, and has that thing that everyone agrees the RS would have been much better with (though heavier) - 4WD.

/rant

But it does raise the important issue of pricing an ST/RS Fiesta ... it'd be a lot of dosh.

There was a long delay put on RS Focus becuase the first batches that hit the market had, as you said bumpers that do not match body work. Ford have sorted this and take upto 3 weeks to quality check the RS after its built.

The RS is alot quieter than the ST as you say but this is only on normal driving. I had the pleasure of driving this beast on a track and once opened up it is loud.

Also yeah there are alot of cars on the market that would be as good a buy or even a better buy than the RS but you are not going to find another car that costs the same now that in 5 years will be worth as much as the RS these hold there value you only have to look at all past RS Fords. Your buying into heratige and into a life style with this car. I have a Impreza in my garage and would happly give it up for one of these. (Rubbish at spelling so sorry lol)

Congrats on the new job FMC :) I'll be putting down my deposit the same day once they release the car
