Youre more than welcome :)
is the build thread a common thing? Still trying to navigate my way around here [emoji85]
Depends I suppose. If you've got lots planned for your car, you might like to document it. If you're just here for ideas or troubleshooting then you could just browse around without making any posts of your own [emoji5]

I may need to get out tomorrow and take some photos of my new baby in that case! Thanks for advice hun. Quick question.. was it expensive when you had the lights tinted? Trying to decide on what bits to do first within my current price range.

Do it!

I did all the tinting at once (front and rear windows, tail gate, rear lights and headlights) so was a little bit yeah, but you could just do them separately...
Tinting and alloys have been the most expensive bits!

I especially like how your rear lights look tinted. Neeeed! 😂 Will have to enquire next time I’m near the garage. My fella sprayed his and they don’t look too bad so I could go with that as the cheaper option if needs be.

If your fella has the skills then let him do it, tinting the Windows is something you could have a go at yourself too. Keep the costs down on the bits you can do yourself gives you more money to spend on bigger things @zagobir has done some pretty neat stuff that hasn’t cost the Earth, just a lot of patience like the gold lettering.

Yes, definitely! I’m excited to learn new things and have a go at bits myself. I’m impatient and he’s a busy guy 😂 His escort takes up most of his free time so he’s gonna have to share his time equally now 🙈 He only has himself to blame for taking me to the ford shows and introducing me to mods!

I agree with you on the gold lettering. In love with all the little bits @zagobir has done.

I can see this becoming addictive...

  • Author

Guysssssss I'm blushing! Haha

Yeah love my tints. I did actually try it myself (fly eye wrap is pretty cheap on Ebay) but struggled with my face-lift lights as they've got so many curves [emoji30] If you're feeling brave enough, you could give that a go.

Thanks@jonro2009 your comments are much appreciated!

Haha modding is very addictive and I don't even feel like I've started yet! My mum just lets me get on with it but I can tell that my dad is so so fed up at the amount of time and money I'm throwing at my pride and joy [emoji13] I've got loads of ideas though and I want to see them all through!

Decided to go down the wrap route! Took some fiddling as this is by no means my forte, but 2hrs later I got a result that I was more than happy with!

Waiting for better weather to do the side strips and boot hands as I think I'd prefer to do this on the car, rather than remove them first.

Looks really good 👍 I saw the pictures first before reading and thought you bought a set of prepainted covers.

How did you remove them as in the future I might get them sprayed or buy a set with primer

Thanks Zain!

Look at the first pic - You can kind of see a line around the mirror cover. I put a flat blade screw driver in various points along that line and prised the cover off. It's just held on with clips that slot into holes on the mirror itself

Nope, did a wrap job![mention=85062]zain611[/mention] you can see the clips I'm talking about on the upturned mirror cover in the back [emoji5]

Wrapping usually takes a lot of patience and many mess ups before getting it right. Don't ask me how I know lol.

Probably the same reason that I know [emoji23] Definitely getting the hang of it though!

I remember starting off and when I applied too much heat it blew a hole in the wrap 🤣. Managed to get pictures of my work. I practiced first on my dad's old mirror covers. After did it on my previous car. Sadly on a hot summers day the edges began to shrink slightly inwards. _20180212_151531.thumb.JPG.dd231a0664993676ffbd0d9dc167f791.JPG

Nice work Zain! Carbon fibre from what I heard is a bit trickier to work with. End result looks very good though

Only thing with carbon fibre wrap is that when you stretch it the weave effect goes a little wonky. You can see on one of the pictures. I also got the interior air vents wrapped as you can see on the second last picture.

Had a successful weekend of wrapping. Decided to carry on with the other dull grey plastics on the car and wrapped my boot handle and all bump strips along the side of the car.

Very pleased with the results as the off grey bits really did bug me when looking at the car from a distance!

Looks good. Just seeing this tempts me to wrap my trims for the time before I get it sprayed. With the boot trim did you just wrap the front not the bottom where the number plate holders are?

Yeah much improved, thanks Zain!

You might as well! The vinyl was only about £4 from ebay! Although I did end up having to do another order - because I started with the mirrors I just cut the first bit of vinyl without unrolling the whole thing. I then did the boot trim and the rear bump strip. By the time I got round to the longer ones at the front, I didn't have any vinyl left that was long enough [emoji87]

For the boot handle I did wrap it under at the edges to reduce the likelihood of it peeling off. Obviously just didn't cover the number plate bulbs!

How much wrap was supplied with what you bought? I am thinking I might have a go on wrapping the boot trim. Might be a little tricky. It's best to use about double the size of wrap of what your wrapping so when your wrapping you have enough vinyl. Also did you remove any of the trims or did you wrap it whilst it was on the car?

So, the Mondeo has gone and now I have a new Focus ST Line. I’ve gone for a powershift box because driving a manual was getting more and more difficult because of my back ☹️ Can’t say I don’t miss the Mondeo, it was in a class of its own but I just didn’t need the size like I thought we did, turns out the baby seat will fit in the focus. I picked it up on Valentine’s Day and my wife got all arsey and jealous so we ended up buying her a Captur to ***** her up lol, it’s still on a boat somewhere.  I emailed put a pair of gas lifters under the bonnet already thanks to another member on here and I’ve dona a few other bits too, I am seriously toying with the idea of wrapping some bits which is why I’m back here! Where did you get your wrap from Zahra, do you have a link?

Quite a bit! As I said, I just cut it the wrong way so it ended up not being long enough. I bought 1.5m x 400cm I think...
Yeah you can see in the pic that I cut big enough strips to have some 'spare'. I only removed the mirror covers to wrap, everything else was done on the car. Wasn't sure what sort of adhesive to stick them back on with so just cheated it lol 11c8c4b219f3bd17f7639f6081af25fa.jpg

Ahhh no way!? Hope you're enjoying the new ride! Your Mondeo was pretty cool. My dad had to go automatic for the same reason - hope it's helping [emoji5] Oooh, wrong move upgrading on Valentine's Day... Could have just waited a week or so and saved yourself thousands [emoji13]
Yeah I think I saw you on that thread! So you're definitely gonna do the lifters then?
Was just a quick eBay job! I'll post the link separately [emoji5]
