  1. How long ago was that story from? Last car in the queue.....

  2. That kind of attitude isn't really warranted. There is an expansive level of help offered daily on this forum. It could simply be that no one who has read your post has any significant advice to offer. It's a forum of enthusiastic owners, not necessarily a team of specific experts on every single problem encountered by a car owner. Be patient, you may come across some good advice soon...

  6. Hello everyone I am Dave and I am happy to be here and I hope some one can help me. I've had a series of unfortunate events happen lately and now with my car down I feel helpless . My girl is Felicity my 2016 Fiesta Titanium Hatchback with a 1.6L VVT NA engine I'll post the issue in a separate thread. Thanks for at least taking the time to read my hello 👋

  7. Battery conditioning ? Getting drivers accustomed to waiting for when they have to charge a battery 🤔

  8. Hi Ray, as far as I know the SOC setting is not shown in the Focus Mk3 BCM settings. It may be possible to do it by code, but I've no personal experience of what those changes are. The charging system on the 2012 models while classed as 'Smart' it is not the same system as that used on later vehicles like the Focus Mk4. The battery level is by default kept in a much better sate of charge.

  9. We've all been there, and I know this is a boring suggestion, but - how about not modifying anything and using any available cash to keep it in good safe condition, make it easier to sell on in due course, avoid any insurance issues and save towards your next car?

  10. Maybe they just stuck it wherever they wanted then.

  11. Just a small word of caution. You can only do that on vehicles up to 2013. Sadly after that point in time FORScan is unable to programme the vehicle with new keys, due to the feature being removed for security reasons.

  12. Correct. You just fit a new headlight. They are after all very cheap compared to the £1400 adaptive LED headlight. New clever things come with new clever prices 😉

  14. I have a 2007 Zetec S petrol, and fan only seems to run when A/C is on. It is controlled by two different relays, one switched by A/C and one using the CTS. Both relays are controlled via the engine management. What does the temperature gauge indicate that makes you think the fan should be running ?

  16. The 1.8 petrol uses an IB5 gearbox, same as the smaller petrol engines. However, the clutch is not the same. I believe the Flexfuel clutch & gearbox will be the same as the standard 1.8, possibly with different ratios inside, but that won't affect torque settings. Sadly I don't know of a reliable source for those torque settings online, though anyone that works at a garage should have access to Autodata or similar. If you ask @iantt nicely he might be able to check some specific torque settings.

  17. Your neighbour is correct. The cable gets disconnected from the Sensor when removing the Airbox, so someone in the past may have forgotten to reconnect it and it has been left hanging and ended up against a hot part of the Engine and melted causing a small fire as well, or maybe someone in the past has fitted an aftermarket Airbox and left it hanging - just educated guess's as to why it is like that.
    1 point
  18. I don't think there is a safety concern. There should be a Plate on the Gearbox with numbers and Bar Codes and the Ratio will be in there somewhere but I don't personally have the information to decode the Plate, nor do I know what Ratio your car should have.

  19. You've got a 2018 car, so I'm guessing you used cyanlabs to unofficially upgrade from Sync 3.0? This is one of the known bugs when doing that, you might have better luck on their forum asking how to fix it, or an older version that doesn't have the bug.

  23. Peak times at this Esso seems all day and all evening up to about 8pm. They are a Tesco express aswell so that really does make it worse. If I can park right on the edge and able to reverse out I will go in and get milk using one of the 2 self scan tills. Otherwise it's a very long wait to either park up or get back out. I don't see why driver's stop there for fuel as it takes a good 15 mins plus to go in and out. Morrisons fuel station is far easier and quicker or even Tesco filling station up the road. But still need to find a quiet time to go.

  26. I don't know Ray, it may be possible using Asbuilt Data but maybe the Mk3 cars are not set to 80% SOC, someone else may know for sure. You could ask in the FORScan Forum but most of the people who frequent that are from the USA and drive Trucks of one kind or another so will not be familiar with the Mk3 Focus.

  28. I count myself lucky, I have 3 x stations within 3 miles of me, and I can't remember the last time I had to queue. (Asda, BP, Maxol) I'm also lucky enough to be able to avoid peak times, like a Saturday afternoon, or day before public holidays. Also, filling with petrol is an in/out 5 minute job. I addition, I have a gallon can in the boot for a 30 mile emergency, which I can't remember the last time of use but I do refresh it every 6 months...

  32. Just seen something to suggest the Spring might not be UKs cheapest EV very long. Apparently BYD are consider selling the Seagull hatch here (about 3.8k long so similar size to a Suzuki Swift). I believe it sells for the equivalent of £8k in China. Can't see it being quite that cheap here but they'll no doubt undercut the Spring.

  39. The Econetic Technology badge is just a bit of propaganda branding. It doesn't really mean anything. It was also stuck on diesel Focus's around the same time. Seems to be just for the sake of fitting a badge where the EcoBoost badge would be on the EcoBoost models. There is also an ECOnetic trim level, but that was only 1.6 diesels with sub 99g/km CO2 at this age and shouldn't be confused with the Econetic Technology badge.

  43. I fitted the black Sony head unit for just £20, then simply repainted all my silver parts in high quality gloss black, it's scratch proof with a perfect finish, the speedo binnacle was off ebay for £10, that is satin black with the brushed stainless a steel insert, also ditched the silver air vents and changed the silver steering wheel surround out of a more modern fiesta, brushed stainless steel effect, proper gave the car a lift.

  44. 600 GBP just for the labour? Don't ever take your car to that garage again. As above, if the rear calipers need the pistons winding back in, (rather than simply pushing back in, as the fronts do), you do need a special tool for that, but it's a few 10s of pounds. BE AWARE that the two sides probably wind-in in opposite directions!! Don't forget to push the calipers back in immediately after removing the old pads, with the calipers and old discs still bolted on the car, just in case you damage the disc if using a pry bar etc etc. Be very careful not to damage the rubber 'boot' or sleeve that sits around the piston - this needs to fold back on itself again as it goes back in.... you'll see what I mean when you take the old pads out. To replace the brake discs, you need to remove the calipers, which isn't difficult, but because of this you will need a torque wrench, so that you retighten the caliper bolts to the correct value. Very important. As you push the pistons back in, you will need to suck out the excess brake fluid that will flow back into the master cylinder, so don't forget to buy a syringe etc for that. As to 'Ford' parts, I don't think they make brake consumables.... they don't usually make any of the brake system - so it'll be someone else's rebranded product. I would put my registration number into Autodoc, and see what manufacturer names are offered. Autodoc is usually cheaper than ECP/cp4l/GSF. If you get Brembo come up, I would choose them - they are almost certainly significantly better quality and probably be cheaper than anything with a Ford label on the box.

  45. Hello, For those who are having issues with the SYNC4 navigation getting stuck, go to your Ford garage and put them to upgrade to the latest version of sync and also to rewrite the following modules : APIM, ACM, SBDO, BCM. If they refuse to do this, give them the following reference from Ford: SSM 52379 or TSB-24-2034 - Drive mode defaults to normal mode while driving and message displays in the center display screen with or without DTC U0253 stored in the ABS module
