Hi folks, just a quick intro. I'm Ian from Midlothian and have an Edge Sport with auto box, which I bought in January after a 4 month wait. Loving the car and hopefully going to learn stuff from the forum. I'm not a stranger to forums, having been a member of the Ford Focus ST Owners Club, previously, but then I got sensible / old. I'm now off to browse.2 points

Vents supplied painting professionally gloss black and fitted £95 plus I had the optional under bonnet trims in red at £20, he also thermal lines the vents to prevent discolouration and distortion, he also can do them the same colour as your car but they are £115 I think.2 points

Might sound obvious, but is the car throwing any codes? Is it exactly the same amount of time each time it dies, or does it vary at all. If it's the same time then it could be caused by the car going from open into closed loop, which happens quite quickly on a Fiesta. If the car is still under warranty then ship it back to Ford for them to fix, this sort of thing shouldn't really happen at 90,000 miles, nevermind 9,000.1 point

Sounds very responsible and gloss black would go perfectly with my Tango and piano black colour scheme1 point

If you've got Facebook, search for " Nick Wiley STparts" he arranges meet's around the country in various locations, and fits them, he's s**t hot at fitting them, he's done around 2,700 cars since he started, so pretty much an expert. I traveled 160 miles round trip from my home to Bristol yesterday as he didn't have any meet's near me in South Wales. Well worth it. Thanks for the compliments guys 👍1 point

Oh I do, but sometimes there are more important things to be looking at whilst driving (like road ahead) other than checking the speedometer every 5 seconds to ensure you haven't gone 1MPH over the limit!!1 point

Hello Guys Been a Ford man all my life, and have had all sorts of Fords. Just endured 18 months of hell...also known as owning a Renault Laguna. Had enough and I pick up my 2007 Focus tomorrow. Looking forward to getting back into the Ford scene. I also have a Capri 2.0S, and Probe 24v. It'll be nice to have a Ford as my daily driver again :)1 point

Hi All New member from Yorkshire region, I stumbled across the site researching performance air filter for my van. Seems well educated to mods and cally fudging around so decided to join. VAN ( you shout, lol ) well she is a little bit special? Meet the rally van, Limited edition M sport #217, mapped to 150 by myself now looking into filters and noise so popping to local performance exhaust centre next week to see what we can achieve.1 point

Provided you do a decent job, then the only risk is that the Engine warning light may come on because the EGR no longer works. From my experience, and others, on the 1.8TDCI in the Focus, this will not happen. But it will need blanking plates at both ends. It is normally pressurised to about turbo boost pressure, say 20PSI, though it is on the exhaust side, so may be a bit more or less than the boost pressure on the inlet. And the waterpipes need to be securely linked. I seem to remember that 15mm copper water pipe fits in most coolant pipes, though I have not tried this lately. If the EGR is blanked, the EGR cooler serves no purpose, and is a complete dead end pipe. Hundreds of people have blanked the EGR ok. Including me a couple of times, to deal with EGR actuator problems. It does not cause MoT problems, with any UK current or planned MoT test standard. Blanking the EGR does increase NOx emissions, and if you drive often in an urban area, especially where sunlight can convert the NOx to low level Ozone, creating smog and possible asthma problems, you may need to consider this. Most of my mileage is a rural environment.1 point

In the broader sense, don't the those two words - French and reliability - in the same sentence, seem to raise questions?1 point

The problem here is that he is trying to run before you can walk so to speak, very much trying to get ahead of himself. Forscan is one of those things you just need to learn for yourself, and at least plug it into your car and look around for the correct option to turn on before coming back onto here saying you have a problem. The majority of stuff asked could easily be found by a quick google or YouTube search instead if wasting more peoples time. I don't think the language barrier helps here either though.1 point

If anyone uses the car with a piece broken off the end of a spring (a piece broken off and missing) they need to jack the car up under the body (not the suspension arm) so the suspension arm is hanging right down at the end of its travel and then check the spring is secure and can not come out of place. you do not want to do a bit of a lift off over a hump back bridge one day and the spring comes out of place when doing this.1 point

Mine is also broken but it is broken at a very low point so I decided to just leave it.1 point

when you have enabled hill start assist you then have to go to ABS and initialise it to get the hill start to work or you will get the lights on the dash. as ian said use focccus its easier activating it with that.1 point

I reckon it was the cooler all along. It seems unlikely to have gone at the same time as the CH gasket! It should be possible to blank it and the EGR off. You will need two blanking plates, one for each end. A standard (eBay) EGR blanking plate is for the EGR end of the cooler, but I think the exhaust end is the same size. I seem to remember someone saying they had fitted it that end. The water pipes to the cooler would have to be coupled together with a bit of suitable pipe. That water feed line supplies the heater and oil cooler as well as the EGR cooler, so is vital. The 1.8, at least in the Focus, does not object to a blanking plate in the EGR. I would not advise leaving the EGR valve un-blanked without a working cooler. The gas going in to the inlet manifold may be too hot.1 point

Indeed! I have a bottle of expensive red wine open at the moment, and it is just the perfect way to spend a Saturday evening. If I were on an island all by myself I would go for a nice drive on this sunny evening and enjoy the sights whilst sipping my wine, but unfortunately UK drink driving laws prohibit that!!1 point

I do like finding other people at work that are enthusiastic about things that myself and a colleague want to roll out further across the Council. I also like accidently coming across an amusing GIF and then finding the original video on YouTube. Porkour!!1 point

I still don't like people on there phones while driving. It's now 3 vs 1 (female vs male) in my mini count since the new laws started. Yesterday it was a lady in her damn Nissan Micra, today another older lady in her 58 plate Audi. Both got the same treatment of a point and shout out of the window while stopped. The bloke was driving in the opposite direction to me (a few days earlier) so I could only give him the bird instead!1 point

Normal hex bolt bought from screwfix in a pack of 10. Cost me £3.59. Here's the link http://www.screwfix.com/p/set-screws-a2-stainless-steel-m10-x-25mm-10-pack/530831 point

Ok guys the job is done. Before trying to re tap it, I used the longer bolts i bought (m10 x 25mm), original was m10 x 12.5 and to my surprise it worked. Tightened it up and it's as snug as a bug in a rug! Been for a run and no leaks. Will keep an eye on it for the next week or so but looks as though it's done the trick. Only difference is my sump socket is now 17mm and not 21mm. Thanks for all the advice - Next time anything like this happens, I'm well prepared with all the extra tools and info I've got so it's all good.1 point

I work long hours and have been helping you and you just want more and more. I can not send pics and a detailed pin for pin set up with out charging . I have given you a lot of information and if you take your time and re read my posts the details will be found or you will be very close to the info you need. I hope you understand my reason as I need to ge on with my own work so I can pay bills. If you still do not know where wiring is etc start like I did with buying circuit diagrams etc and wiring layout and study circuits with cars built with the camera and with no camera and that's how I started. Remember dealers often do not want to do mods to cars so the best way is to do it yourself armed with all the info collected or pay someone else. I will try to answer basic questions when I get time and sure you will understand1 point
