  1. Couple of updates! First off, just a quick few examples of how the car is looking currently :) added a Ford Mania decal to the rear - this is one of my most favourite groups on social media Got some mad shine after giving the car a good clean and taking it down to the shops. Caught the sun and BAM Had originally decided to paint my battery cover black so I could add some detailing decals on. And had the chrome fuse box cover too. Also changed one of the coolant hoses to the green one, but it is quite a tight fit so have ordered some different ones to get a better fit and hopefully have both done.. These didn't last long.. I managed to find some carbon parts to replace them! I'm a simple person...I see carbon.. I like. Battery cover & Fuse box cover replaced with the carbon ones. Hopefully in the coming month I will be looking to replace the orange silicone hoses with lime green ones and give these ones to my friend as his theme is orange based. Completely off topic but my favourite car from the AMG fleet at work is now not going to be used for experiences as it's getting on a bit for the track.. RIP C63 Black Series (6.2 ltr NA beast) OK back to things.. So the last few months (although I have been still modifying) I have been trying to save for something called the Block Mod. This procedure in essence is strengthening the engine in order to run more power through it. It's prep work before I am able to get the car remapped and bring in some of those horses we are all looking to attain! The block mod is a really long job as it involves taking the head off. It's basically a super major service including changing cam belt, tensioners, water pump, head gasket, cleaning all of the cylinder heads and piston components. Whilst this is all done, metal shims are implanted inbetween the cylinder wall liners in order to strengthen the engine. I now have no worries about getting the 'cracked liners' or overheating the car by adding more power. I have a tonne of photos but I'll just put in a few to show some of the work.. Arrived at BD Performance in Dover around 8.30 AM Came down with my friend who was also having the same work done. This is the first time BD performance in Kent have attempted to do 2 in a day. Cheeky foreign RS also in for some work. They had about 5 or 6 Focus STs and Focus RS outside the unit.. Which was to come in handy later on when I explain.. We knew the job was going to be all day so thankfully Andy Cashmore from BD performance let us borrow his Red Focus ST (one of a few). The car was stage 1 remaopped to around 280 bhp which was interesting! Place to go was obviously Dover White Cliffs The cliffs were a good viewing point that's for sure! And down to some of the actual work.. When we headed back to the unit half way through the day our engines were in bits being reworked.. painful to see but also a pleasure.. Camshafts reworked into engine, after everything was being cleaned up and ready to go back on. New head gasket on down below And that's the metal shim being inputted between the cylinder walls to prevent cracking through temperature! All done and dusted.. So around £600 later (with discounts and free parts put in) the work was all finished. We left the unit at around 8 so all in all a good 12 hours work to get both cars completed with their new reconditioned & protected engines. That's a big milestone in the race to get the car running more power! The guys at BD were amazing to us, constant updates throughout the day, these pictures were taken by Andy as he was working on mine and sent through, lent us an ST to go and have some fun in. They also rang us up at Lunch time for some passenger rides.. They had a Collins Performance CP340 Focus ST in (which is what me & my friend are aiming to get) so they were kind enough to take us out for a spin in that car and my goddddd.... It was just nuts boosting the way it did, still ctaching plenty of traction and it honestly felt like there was no lag for the turbo to spool up again after changing gear it was right on hard boost the whole way. Very impressed with that.. way better than I thought it would be. But to top it all off, Andy also took us out in a 500 bhp Focus RST which ran boost at 26 PSI...Absolutely nuts! What a good asset to use..They were good to us, I'd recommend talking to Andy Cashmore from BD performance Kent if you do want any work doing and live down South. Highly recommend Thannks for reading, I know there was quite a lot of words/story there!

  3. Fuel tank removed and fuel pump replaced today. Its running again \o/ Fairly easy to replace no special tools are needed. For the fuel pump tightener I used piece of wood and a hammer to screw it open. Special tool is much faster though.

  5. Hi, Had a few Ford's in the past but I'm currently driving a 13' Focus Zetec S Estate (1.6TDCI), after a bad run of luck with a couple of old VW's. I travel from Oxfordshire to Glasgow weekly so it's currently sitting on 93000 miles. Came on here as I'm having a couple of issues with it. Will go to the appropriate section to see if you guys have had the same issues before. Good to see this forum hasn't died due to Facebook etc. I'm currenty a rep on another well known Ford forum which seems to have died from it recently. Cheers all.

  6. Cheers Clive, don't think they'd fit the Fiesta ST though, probably should have mentioned that in my OP, be useful for others though!

  9. Something along the lines of this: Silicon hose for 1.8 TDCI It costs a fraction of the genuine Ford part and should last forever due to being made of silicone rather than rubberised plastic which has a nasty habit of fracturing due to long term exposure to heat and/or vibration.

  14. So just to be clear the factory fitted Ford headunits are actually slightly bigger than a standard double din aftermarket unit necessitating a fascia adapter to fill the gap? In which case Lenny I think I might go with a mark 2 standard Sony unit from eBay if it is just a standard swap out from my Ford cd6000 unit. Is that the case? Also seen a Sony unit on eBay that said it was for the 2005-2008 Focus. Would this be exactly the same unit as those fitted in my 55 plate mark 2? Or are they different, they look the same on the photos.

  15. Been busy since my first post but went to Halfords today and the audio guy told me I would need these three items to fit the new Sony stereo at £12 for the harness, £5 for the aerial adapter and a ridiculous £18 for a fascia adapter which needs to be cut by myself as well, the centre bar apparently. This is all adding up to become expensive and I'm wondering whether to just look for the standard Ford Sony one on eBay instead. Do I actually need a fascia adapter? I just assumed the dimensions would be exactly the same on the aftermarket Sony unit as the old Ford unit. If i decide to just buy a standard Ford Sony unit will it fit in without the need for any adapters?

  16. I had a 08 plate 1.6 TDI Sport van, Fantastic performance, no problems with it all. Only went because the car was £20 VED abnd the van. exactly the same animal was £220 VED. Drove it full steam all the time, can't tell you the mpg. It never bothers me. I can't believe that people pick a car for the mpg over another a bit lowerr.

  18. Both of these fuses are in the fuseboard behind the glovebox, Trailer module is fuse 20, and front power point/ cigar lighter is fuse 30 (double check those numbers in your manual). Now what you want to do is insert a piggyback fuse holder into the trailer module slot, place a 20A fuse into the slot furthest away from where it plugs in, and leave the other one empty. This will put power onto the cable coming out of the piggyback fuse. Now remove the fuse in the power point slot and insert the second piggy back fuse holder. Place the fuse you just removed into the slot furthest away from where it plugs in. Now this bit is important. Do not connect the two wires yet. With the engine off test the lead coming off the piggyback fuse in the trailer module slot with a multimeter. Test between the wire and bare metal on the car, you are looking for 12V (it will only work with piggyback fuse in one way so you may have to flip it around). Now switch the engine on, do the same test but between the wire coming off the other piggyback fuse and bare metal. This time you want the reading to be 0v (if it is 12v then turn the fuse holder around). Once these checks have been done, crimp the wires together and you're done! The power point will now be always on. This diagram shows how we will be using the fuse holders and why it is important that they are the correct way around. As you can see only one pin on each holder will be part of the circuit.

  22. Hi Adam I will take a couple of photos to show you what you need to do to the roof area of you car to fit the factory roof bars as it's a bit involved as you need to dig out some sealer to expose the fixings for the roof bars. My tip would be to get some touch up paint just in case you expose and metal on the roof wham carrying out the process

  26. lets do the maths....... £350 for 15 bhp or £23 for each bhp. and how will you know you even get an extra 15 bhp without doing a rolling road power graph to prove it ? could only be an extra 10 or 12 bhp i'd say not worth it but its your cash........

  27. whenever i put my car into reverse , i get bad radio interference. i put this down to multiple circuits sharing the same negative earth wiring which creates electrical noise. i'm fairly certain that connecting a dedicated "clean" earth from the vehical chassis and bolted onto the stereo casing and / or the roof aerial connector above the front courtesy light will cure the problem but as yet have not had time to implement this modification and prove my theory. i wouldnt be surprised that something very similar is happening with the OP's radio reception

  28. Depending on how good the touch up has to be I have achieved good results with the auto spray paint from poundworld. I sprayed a small puddle in to a disposable plastic cup then used a cocktail stick to apply it to the affected area. stood up approx 3ft away the repair wasn't noticeable. May be a cheap option depends how much of a perfectionists you are and whether it would be acceptable to you

  29. So today I got my strut brace in the post, didn't plan on buying one but was browsing through fleabay when it magically appeared in my basket. Fitted it today and my only complaint is it rubs quite badly on the reservoir and slightly on the induction hose. I will eventually stop buying additional parts and actually buy stuff needed for the car

  31. Thank you all. I think I can find the foglamps cheaper on ebay and probably the wiring loom. Just though that maybe it was pre wired and it would be a simple task of plugging in the fog lights.

  32. excuse the mess, I usually clean it up but it was chucking it down and I couldn't be bothered :) anyhow, that's a self sealing T piece, has a rub seal on both sides and is tightened with that nut you can see. due to the nature of the system, all additional pressure will help seal it more so far, no leaks at all, ive had it in place since last year.

  34. Logged into my Ford account (Sign up at Ford.co.uk) and checked the online manual, cant see a size limitation, but it needs to be USB 2.0. I can try USB 3 later on and see if it works: USING SYNC™ WITH YOUR MEDIA PLAYER You can access and play music from your media player through your vehicle's speaker system using the system's media menu or voice commands. You can also sort and play your music by specific categories, for example artist or albums. SYNC is capable of hosting nearly any media player including: iPod, Zune, Plays from device players, and most USB drives. SYNC also supports audio formats, for example MP3, WMA, WAV and ACC. Confirm that the USB device has been formatted correctly and has the following specifications: USB 2.0. File format must be FAT16/32. Note: NTFS file format is not supported. The format of the audio files on the USB device must be: MP3. Non DRM protected WMA. WAV. AAC.

  38. Disclok for me, had it donkeys. Also have a pedal lock for when its parked overnight. It annoys me somewhat when people don't secure their property, using some rubbish like "if they want it that bad they'll take it" excuse, and who then moan like crazy and blame the police when it does go walkies.

  39. Yes, or some sealant. Bought fittings have an o-ring seal, but this will only work against a suitable flat surface, which is unlikely with an improvised tapping. In fact, a little bit of leakage would not be a problem as it is only air. It is more about making sure the fitting is not going to be suddenly ejected after a year or so in service. Though even that would not be catastrophic, just annoying, like any other turbo hose leak. So provided nothing can enter the engine (like a nut falling off inside the duct), there is no real hazard. Since a diesel intercooler duct is never under a vacuum, it is not likely to suck bits in from the outside.

  43. You would just need to connect a live and neutral to the controller. The lights will start in the last mode they were in. Using your fogs all the time would be a ticket-able offence so I wouldn't recommend doing that. If you really have to then wire them into a switched live which comes on with the ignition is on.

  46. I've been doing this exact thing using this topic as a reference. As it's not been updated since I thought I would provide some input. I have a Ford fiesta 1.0L Titanium Econetic which had sync 1.0. The serial number on the old APIM was AM5T-14D544-CC. I then bought a sync 1.1 module on ebay with the number D1BT-14D212-EB. I swapped them over, and it worked, completely plug and play. It did not work for about a minute though, but after switching the car off and on again it sort of updated itself and worked. The new module for some reason now has the number E1BT-14D212-EA, so i'm guessing its a newer update. Hope this helps anyone else trying this.

  47. Hi there I recently fitted a Zetec S Spoiler on my 5 door titanium, it looks really really nice! Cost me £125 on ebay already sprayed in panther black! Taking the standard spoiler off is very easy, few bolts and pull. When re fitting the new spoiler the rear light cable and washer pipe is too short, all i did was cut it and crimp and extra bit of wire, CAUTION make sure u know which wire is which as the bulbs are LED and may break if not connected correctly. The was tube was a bodge job as i luckily had an old washer piper from a previous fiesta, do what you think is best really for the washer. I'll add a guide soon on how to do it if you would like...? Hope this helps! Does make the car look alot better.
