  1. Me: Got my modded ELM! Yay! Me 5 mins later: Killed my car. Boo. Me 2 mins and a lot of swearing later: Thank holy turdballs I took a save of the ECU configs! Explanation: Got my ELM as I always like to bugger around with things and see what's what. Fine. Really all I wanted to do was to enable auto door locking when you drive off (I live in Gainsborough. They'll have your wheels off if you're going less than 20mph... ) . Found the setting, changed it to enabled and all seemed good! Unplugged the reader and took 'er for a spin round the block. At 3mph my doors locked and i do this face ---> Shortly afterwards on the same trip I notice my cruise control/limiter controls don't respond. I do this face ---> cos I'm thinking I probably caught another setting without realising. So I pull up at my house and plug the reader back in but stupidly forget to switch the engine off. As FoCCCus grabs my cars settings, the engine cuts out and when FoCCCus loads, a crapload of DTC faults appear on EVERY system (BCM, IPC, etc. But most importantly PCM). I do this face ---> and clear them all with the software - they're all loss of signal faults so I assume its cos the engine cut out on its own but the PCM faults persist. I look down the list and see 'Crash'. I do this face ---> as I realise the car thinks its been involved in a crash as the engine was killed and will not allow it to be started again. Lo and behold it wont start again and I can't clear the fault. I'm now doing this face hoping the wife doesn't hear the car 3 ft from the lounge window not starting --->. Thankfully I also had ForScan which did clear the Crash fault and after restoring the settings from a backup I made at first read the car started fine again. I also re-applied the auto-lock setting and was careful not to touch any others. The Cruise still didn't work immediately, but after cycling the ignition completely the controls responded. Happy ending, but it was Brown Pants time for a few minutes... So the moral of the story: ALWAYS take a backup of your car's settings before you tinker and NEVER use an OBD reader while the engine is running! Just don't be thick like me =]

  2. Yeah I realised that things weren't as drastic as they seemed but I was still sweating a bit til I got it figured out. FoCCCus and ForScan are big leaps from Formidable for my mk1.5! "Ooh look! When I press the accelerator, the revs on my laptop go up too! That's cool <nerdy laugh>"

  3. Can confirm this works, now got nav on main screen and directions on smaller screen. Bannko thanks for all your help with this, ford original sd card and factory installed nav for approx £100 can't be bad. Few panics as installs but don't worry that you've bricked your new car, relax and it will be ok.. he says now :)

  4. Just incase you hadn't taken a backup, you can also download the as-built data from here: http://ford.xtlt.ru/ab/ I did have a similar moment of panic turning on hill start assist and DDS for my mum's Focus. After programming the BCM the dash lit up like a christmas tree. I'd already got Forscan installed so scanned and cleared and they went away.

  11. Works! Thanks to your guide. It was so simple, no tools needed (well I did use the flat of a screw driver for the clips) but it only took about 10 minutes. Like you I had to re-start the ignition as at first it didn't seem to respond. Second time it came online and I had to delete 'bobs iphone'. Once done I connected my phone and then downloaded the spotify applink and tested it out. So now if my son asks for his cbeebies playlist I can just tell sync to play it. All for the grand total of £28. I'm going to try and flog the other unit now. See if I can reduce the deficit a little more.

  13. Got to agree with Saxosim on this one. Projectors look way better and emphasis the bonnet line. Read somewhere that they have the light output of a flickering candle though.

  19. that will be the dpf regenerating itself mine does it every couple of weeks on the motorway you should see the temp gauge go up and down for a few minutes until its finished. i use shell v power and its runs better feels quieter and give more mpg.

  20. Maybe if you use the Car Cane in conjunction with a car seat swivel he can support himself on the left side alone, so you can move to the right side to give him something to grab onto https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/Deluxe-Swivel-Car-Seat-Mobsoleteility-Aid/1445472728?iid=172725116705

  22. well managed to get my st/zs spoiler fitted and I did put silicon on the bolt holes so hopefully it should all be water tight as the silicon even came out of the bolt holes as I attached the spoiler. have also got a Maxton design rear extension to go on but that will be a job for another day as I want to make sure the spoiler is all water tight before I mess about any more lol. here are the before and after pics. I also added a bit of fly eye to the spoiler brake light to make it looked smoked just need to do the rear lights at some point now. very happy with how the rear end looks now. Before old spolier new st/zs spolier

  23. Thats a good thing, will look at that but its mainly the right hand so he can move into the right place when getting in. He is 89 so not a lot of strength so i try to help the left side so when i lift he puts his hand down on the handbrake side.

  27. Auto lights being on shouldn't be sounding an alarm. Are you sure the switch was all the way round? It may have slipped back to the headlight position. If the headlights came on in bright sunshine then you've definitely got the switch in the wrong position for auto headlights.

  34. Most Mountune upgrades won't affect your warranty but that's different to whether you can change things on pcp. It is your car in your name but It all depends what your going to do at the end of your agreement. As long as you don't hand it back you should be ok. If hand back you'll probably have to return to stock. Speak to your salesman they will tell you what you can do. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk www.tomholroydphotography.co.uk

  45. Ignore the tape and sticky pad, that was a photo taken while I was in the process of fitting an illuminated badge background that was wired into the brake lights. It was one like this- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-CAR-BADGE-LIGHT-UP-RED-LED-fits-MONDEO-FOCUS-14-5x5-6cm-UK-SELLER-/181968864889?hash=item2a5e308679:g:aVMAAOSwNyFWeAnb One available that lights up fully, not just a back plate- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-LED-Badge-Logo-Emblem-R-W-B-Focus-Falcon-Kuga-Mondeo-Fiesta-F-Series-/272261164630?hash=item3f6407ae56:g:1xgAAOSwezVW0gDO Obviously sizes need to be checked.
