  2. I do hate diesels. Lol unfortunately the alternative is no better, 1.5 ecoboost! They guzzle the fuel in a Mondeo or Kuga. At least ***** the 2.0 and not the 1.5 tdci. The 2.0 I can bluefin from 150 hp to 200hp . And £20 tax still like my focus.

  4. Sorry, but this will not work just like that, after enabling it in Forscan or elmconfig. The functionality simply isn't supported by the "hardware" in your doors. To enable this you would have to retrofit at least front door modules from an all-4-electric windows equipped car. This also requires some changes in the wiring of the door looms and so on. Not un-doable job, I did it myself (with a massive help from a friend), I now have all 4 windows in electric. I used a how-to guide from a local forum board (localized in czech language only) and with all the needed parts it took about 8 hours (with breaks) to fit it.

  5. It can't be done on a Zetec. You need to have all 4 one touch electric windows for it to work. If you want to retrofit it you need window motors, door modules and pieces of loom so probably not worth the hassle lol.

  6. I do like being home again; having spent the past two evenings after working 7-3 driving 134 miles round trips to IKEA bringing home 28 pieces for a PAX built in floor to ceiling wardrobe for the kids room. Yesterday was with the family to design it the contents; we picked up all the small items and drawers from the warehouse; Then today I went up with one of my daughters to collect the wardrobe sections and doors 48kg and 45kg cabinets then four door panels at 236cm excluding packaging; the boxs stuck out a bit ☺ almost required two trolleys to move the boxs. Back on the road again tomorrow though for another 260 mile round trip to see my mother as we were supposed to visit last Sunday and the Sunday before that but haven't; So I'll be starting to build the wardrobe on Monday morning, I'm glad this sourcing of all items is now complete; as IKEA warehouse was quite busy making it difficult to navigate. Also saw edd Sheeran working in IKEA

  10. To be honest I would first get a few quotes in, show them the pictures of the one you intend to buy and just mention that it might need to have some prep done first because you don't know how deep the scratches are or stone chips, they'll be able to give you a quote, it will likely still work out cheaper than brand new.

  11. Ahhh sorry, I misread and thought you'd wanted the trims to have something on them- my bad! Have you thought about making or adapting them somehow? Stick some jam jar lids together etc.. lol! In all fairness I'm sure a project like that would make an interesting guide for here, I don't think I've come across anyone who has attempted it yet so might be something for the slower evenings to play with? 🙂

  14. The cable simply pulls out of the back of the dial and the flap control mechanism in the footwell. I replaced one on my old mk2 Focus a few years back. It's easier to do the dial end first then the footwell end as the flap end plastic part is longer and can snap if trying to flex it into position without the flap end being free to move around. Make sure you don't spin any dials after disconnecting the cable or you have a faff realigning them. You may need to disconnect fan speed control wire and temperature control wire in order to pull the aircon control panel up and off for better access for cable alignment. Sent from my SM-G965F (S9+)

  16. Cut out all the left pockets out got around to tacking the outer side of the left in, cleaned off both the end chassis legs rear to cap off with some fresh rust free metal, done a quick mock up with the rear outer boot skin and seems to line up nicly. Just need to get the left inside sorted and tacked and a new strip along the end of the boot floor as I went a little deep with the spot weld drill bit and have damaged a bit of it.

  17. Ah - you've got a skinny space saver, this could be why your carpet sinks as the tyre isn't as wide as 1 fitted to a 14" spare wheel

  19. back from the garage, they found not mounted properly the clutch(plate not tigth fixed), after i show them the issue. Now car fixed. I was worry a lot about the sound and I was also thinking that I've had to replace more parts. The sound was obviously not good. but I am very lucky to have no other painful issues. thanks. Callisto. P.S.: they corrected the issue of course without any money charge.

  22. I find TSR and speed alert a useful feature on the Fiesta which works well - most of the time. As you say, it is affected by GPS not being up to date, but also by signs not being picked up because they are hidden behind vegetation or simply too dirty to be read by the camera (or driver!). All very well making these things compulsory on new cars from 2022 but it will be unreliable and therefore somewhat pointless unless GPS can be kept bang up to date and speed limit signs correctly positioned and maintained, not to mention the safety aspect of incidents such as you describe.

  33. You might be right, it was on a bend at 50mph and the deer ran out at the last minute. I saw it's startled face right in front of my passenger side headlight! Fortunately as I swerved it stopped because I literally missed it by inches. Swerving out on a corner really upset the car and I was sure it was going to spin but it somehow it came back on line. Could well have been the ESP. If I'd been driving the Lotus (which has no driver aids at all) I'd probably have been in deep *****! Fortunately I still haven't hit a deer either...

  34. Latest update yesterday from Ford CRC re F8 map fiasco is that " they dont know when it will be made available for download but are escalating again to their technical team ?". So dont hold your breath. As I pointed out to them apart from the Sat Nav mapping issue the "intelligent speed limiter " as on myvehicle,Focus 4, is rendered not fit for purpose as it relies on GPS mapping to work properly. What are they going to do when this feature becomes mandatory ?

  38. I picked up the car today and it is an absolute dream to drive. It is so smooth and that turbo when it gets to work is terrific. I’ve checked under the bonnet and compared my engine with the above images you posted(thanks alot)which definitely confirms my engine is a 1.0 Ecoboost 100bhp. Next step is to convince my friend he does not have the ecoboost version which will take some doing, will probably say my one is the one without the turbo lmao

  39. Check the clusters of wires at the back of the passenger footwell, sometimes these can be hit with feet and the connectors pulled out! There should be two clusters of coloured wires. May not be your problem but it’s worth a check. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  41. I could drive 20 minutes to the scrap yard but as you've said mate; it's not worth the Diesel I'll be bringing it to the local recycling centre which accept scrap metal but dont pay you anything atall for it, The local tyre places take old tyres and pass them on to silage farmers; they can also be shredded for use as rubber chippings in playgrounds but I dont know how they separate the wires from the rubber, Not sure about hardcore and plasterboard; I had a small amount of plasterboard but I wet it and folded in to domestic waste bin. We have a king sized bed in our room its equivalent size to two single side by side; its ideal for whenever theres a disagreement as we can sleep without making contact atall 😅

  42. If the immobliser remains on, it should not crank at all. The PCM controls the starter relay. The odometer display will look strange, just dashes usually, and the immobiliser LED will flash quickly. The immobiliser definitely does not disable the CAN bus, I had to use the CAN bus (via Forscan) to get the immobiliser dis-armed after I had the 2006 cluster fault. When you try to get Forscan to connect to a car, it will first report on whether it can connect to the ELM. The first few lines of a Forscan session I had are: (WARN) [16:35:17.428] Checking COM1... (OK) [16:35:17.728] Connection to adapter has been established on COM1 (OK) [16:35:17.728] Adapter: ELM327 v1.5 (OK) [16:35:17.888] Connection to vehicle has been established (OK) [16:35:45.448] Vehicle: Ford Focus Duratorq-Turbo Diesel Common Rail Injection 1.8L 2006 ( 2003.25 MY ), VIN: WF0*********7***0 (OK) [16:35:46.279] Found module: PCM - Powertrain Control Module (WARN) [16:35:48.622] DTCs in PCM: U0073-E1, U2197-61, P0571-61, P1260-61, U0121-E1, U0140-E1, U0001-E1, U0155-F1, U0131-F1 So if it does not get as far as finding the ELM, then the problem is the ELM. The quality of these things varies hugely, especially wireless ones. Use a USB one if you can. The ones sold by tunnelrat have been recommended by others on this site, wired or wireless. I was literally typing that at the very instant the reply from Daniel popped up on my screen!! https://tunnelrat-electronics.fwscart.com/ If it cranks a bit, and the immobiliser LED is not flashing madly (it actually flashes out a code), then there is something else preventing starting. Double check the battery and heavy wiring to the starter. Then try to get Forscan working. It is the best available system outside the Ford IDS system.

  43. I’d recommend getting a proper ford specific ELM cable from tunnelrat electronics. Always works with mine, worth a try at £15.

  44. There looks to be a linking problem of a leak of air into the inlet manifold from a damaged hose or faulty PCV, then it idles slowly, roughly or not at all when the pipe or valve is replaced. The ECUs on modern cars continually adjust themselves. If there is air leak for long enough, then the long term fuel trims will self adjust, and possibly also the learnt throttle valve positions. In most cases, if the car can be used like this, it should slowly re-adjust. However there is a problem, that the learnt values can slowly be moved out by a gradually increasing leak over time. But then the sudden change back to no leak is beyond the normal acceptable self-learning range. There will be a "Reset adaptions" or "Reset module" facility in the ECU that should set it back to initial settings, then it should be able to learn the current values needed. This can be done either at a garage with IDS (usually main dealers!), or with a good, Ford specific diagnostic system like Forscan.

  45. My Ford sat nav (2017) is utter crap compared to a number of free ones on my phone. I have no idea why car makers don't install an android screen and let you put on any sat nav you wish. I doubt the massive cost of updates recoups even a fraction of what they spend developing them.

  47. ecoboost power and torque might look as good/better on paper and it might drive very nicely (I have not driven an ecoboost) but I bet it uses a lot more fuel than the diesel. I had a 2007 1.6tdci fiesta and I thought it drove very well with regard to power. I now have 2015 1.5tdci 95bhp econetic. On paper it should be as good if not better but it does not feel it. It's not bad, it just does not feel as good. It does have higher gearing. My old one was 3000rpm = 80mph, my current one 3000rpm=100mph (both have 5 speed box). I think it has higher gearing as it is the Econetic. Must have options is really personal choice, what's important to you? most important to me is Quickclear windscreen. Standard on Zetec upwards. Not standard on my Style spec but luckily the first owner paid the hundred quid extra for it. I would not have bought one without the quickclear windscreen. I bought mine in 2016 when it was 10 months old with 9500 miles on it from a main Ford dealer for £10,200. So based on that , £10k might be plenty, but I had a look recently and it looked like they may have gone up a bit since then (at the time it was not a bargain, it was the normal price). Perhaps the tax free status of those has increased demand a bit.
