  1. Watching Jurassic Park for the first time...they've got electric Ford Explorers with touch screen dash consoles... definitely ahead of their time in 1993!! (ITV2+1 btw...and no that's not the same as ITV3 )

  3. Jury is still out on that one, Clive. Alex reckons it was pretty buggy, but Tezza and I have not seen the same bugs - Tezza from the start, me after flashing Tezza's files. I'm happy to report back after I've had some time to live with it, but generally the system seems a whole lot more responsive than before... in about 5 mins I'll throw a little explanation together (though its fairly well explained on the guide linked, just different files used). If those who are interested but a bit unsure grab the files (before we lose access), then those of use who have done it can report back if we have problems. Gives folk time to decide...

  10. I remember visiting Dagenham along with other representatives of fleet users - this would be late 70's/early 80's. At one work station engine blocks were arriving at the same time as the set of 4 pistons/conrods, and the task of the guys was to put the pistons into the block and send them off to the next part of the process. At one point a block arrived with only 3 pistons. The guy just put them into the block and let it go on it's way. I mentioned this and asked if it would be rectified later "dunno mate, not my job, and don't f***ing care anyway" was the response. Elsewhere a group were stood around smoking and chatting as the line had stopped upstream of their work station. Visiting factories (car and otherwise) only a few years later, when Japanese ideas like kanban had taken hold, you would see guys in a similar situation rushing back up the line to see if they could help clear the stoppage. So things did change! My own feeling is that the basic i/c engine has been developed to an impressive degree of efficiency and reliability, it's all the "stuff" to try and make it comply with emission regulations that were never dreamed of years ago that seem to cause a lot of issues, directly or indirectly. Must be a nightmare for manufacturers at the moment with no clear phase out date for i/c engines, and wondering which technology to back. Politicians seem to favour battery electric which to me is beset by problems of its own - finite supply of rare materials for batteries, need to generate "clean" electricity, charging networks etc - while hydrogen seems to be virtually ignored, though I did see something about the Chinese favouring going in that direction.

  11. I can relate to the shift work; I work contential shift with Saturday overtime So its six days of 7am-3pm Five days of 3pm-11pm then back in 7am-3pm that Saturday Five nights 11pm-7am Had I not met the wife before getting this job j don't think I ever would have had the time, when I'm on days I sometimes wish I was on nights but when I'm on nights i lye in bed staring at the ceiling thinking that I'm wasting my life but i wont get the same money anywhere else. Theres three vacancies in work now for team leaders; I'm there seven years now but if I take a new position then I'm treated as the new employee facing a six month probation and the risk of being made redundant, although I would still be doing my existing job as always bit like a forum moderator I'd have a feather in my cap enabling me to print documents for operators and delighte when the supervisor is off or when working Saturdays but the risk of being made redundant is high in that position aswell as increased responsibility for those whom dont want to work atall; If I had a say in the interview process for those they expect me to be able to point at the work then it wouldn't be a difficult job but some of the people just want to sit back and chat for the eight hours leaving the work for the next Shift; I can't be accountable for those; they need a special needs assistant; someone whom is used to wiping rear ends and making things presentable for visiting times. I've never been on tinder 🤷‍♂️ met the wife on a Vodafone chat thing back in 2002 before picture phones even existed, met her off the train in Dublin Connolly station, Rang her phone to get a look before I approached her to introduce myself; I then stayed in her parents house for two whole weeks while they were on holiday lol I never went home stayed two weeks from the time we first met, She was vegetarian back then and I lived on chips and onion rings from her local chipper as I was afraid she might get super upset if I were to order a burger was torture at the time but worth it in the end.

  12. Sorry to hear these things Jace. People think mental illness is easy to live with but it really isn't. It's a 24/7 battle with your own mind and it certainly isn't a choice. I didn't choose to gave contamination based fears and OCD, nor did I choose to be depressed and have anxiety. I'm glad your brother has found support though now. Caring for people isn't an easy thing to do and I bow my head to you out of respect.

  13. Lol, park a Ford on damp grass for a year and you come back to a pile or orange dust... Still, people used to rave about 306s not rusting, yet I scrapped many of them due to rust issues! I never understood why Jap cars rust so badly though...Japan isn't exactly a hot, dry country...and the rest of the cars are well designed and built (unlike Fords and Peugeots which are just designed to be cheap!). All cars have rust somewhere though, German cars tend to rust out the wings where they fit sponge to reduce tyre noise...but all it does is trap mud, dirt and salt against the wing to rust it from the inside out...fantastic idea!

  16. https://cyanlabs.net/tutorials/update-ford-sync-3-2-2-3-0-to-version-3-4-all-years-3-4-19200/ Done this and what a difference and its for all sync3 vehicles with or without nav with the latest update's installed Mod added note if you have GPS issues: MODERATOR WARNING, IF UPGRADING FROM 3.0: It's impossible to go back to 3.0 once you reformat using the tool which is used in this guide. If you update you may not receive any further system or map updates from Ford and have to do all future updates manually by finding files and creating your own update packages from 3rd party guides. The firmware on the APIM is also different to 3.2+, so you can't enable all features. You need to edit the config to enable things like radio logos, but other features just don't work without a reflash of the APIM. We just want our members to be informed, if you chose to proceed at your own risk, fully understanding the implications.

While doing it I noticed that on the central number 99 it says auto park without reverse camera . Does anybody know that if I switch it over to with cam what will it do . Or should I deactivate first on forscan first then turn in . I have noticed that when on auto park reverse cam don’t work Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  18. Hi there , I have bought a 2018 Ford Fiesta 125bhp Titanium Ecoboost recently and I have concerns about the driving experience . Firstly i must say I love the interior and the gizmos inside the car however my concerns start when I'm driving ! Firstly the brakes are very 'jerky' , it is a lottery if I stop smoothly or am shot through window screen . Secondly the general driving experience is very rough , the car never feels like it's running smoothly. There is a lot of vibration and juddering when driving and when I change gear it feels right for a couple of seconds then it feels like it's in the wrong gear . This problem is particularly noticeable in town when you are changing gear/stopping starting a lot . If I'm honest it feels like an old car that needs a service not a nearly new (I am the first owner , It was the ex demonstrator car ), I have had Fiestas before and this is the worst one I've had . The garage have had it back once , they greased the brake disks and brake chains (their words not mine ) and it was ok for a couple of day but now it is back to how it was previously .It is booked in again but they cannot take it for 3 weeks ! Anyone got any previous experience with this or ant ideas ?

Speaking of playstation; I'm looking to sell my barely used playstation 4 along with joypad and official playstation charging cradle which plugs in to the wall and takes two joypads, I've upgrade the HardDrive to a Samsung 860 Evo 500GB SSHD so its whisper quiet and I've got GTA5 download on the drive, Looking for €170 Would that be a fair price these days? 24. I put some Recaro’s from a Focus ST-2 in, depending on the colour of your car the coloured fabric inserts can match and look good. Or you could get the heated leathers from an ST-3. Quite easy to swap in and out, especially if it’s a 3 door. Didn’t cost any extra on the old insurance.

  25. Yes, I have Zain. It's PlayStation Now. It's been around for quite a while. It used to be £12.99 but they recently dropped the price. I suspect the price drop was to try and compete with XBox Game Pass. Downside to PS Now is that it's mainly PS2 and PS3 games on there. There are no PS1 games, unlike XBox game pass which has original Xbox and 360 games on there. The Xbox pass also includes a lot of recent releases such as Forza Horizon 4.

  26. If it happened at work and you're off for over 7 days then it is RIDDOR reportable. The report has to be made within 15 days and there should be a full investigation into the matter (this may or may not work in your favour depending on how it happened). I'm not sure where you stand in regards to compensation. You'll have to wait for the results of the investigation

  31. The 3 Cylinder ecoboost can feel a little bit rough at low rpm but it's certainly not much worse than a 4 cylinder. Are you sure you aren't changing up too early and running in a higher gear than is required for the situation.? I sincerely hope they didn't grease the brake disks, that would be dangerous, and I've never heard of brake chains before so I have no idea what that is referring to. The brakes on my 2019 Fiesta are fine and consistent. I'd suggest finding another mechanic/dealer to look at it or maybe book yourself in for a test drive of a similar model to yours and see how that feels.

  34. Just to give an update on this. Since I used Forscan to clear the codes it's not come back. At the same time I removed the relay switch, cleaned contacts with electrical cleaner and re-seated it. Not sure why, maybe relay was loose or maybe different conditions so it's not happened again.

  36. Just ordered the wifi enabled tunnelrat ELM327 (modified) and downloaded FORScan lite for iOS on Friday. Thanks for the links @Tdci-Peter I will see how this goes, will the iOS app allow me to access all the important data required to diagnose issues compared to the windows version? My Laptop is on its last legs and using my iPhone will be more convenient. Does anyone have info for nominal sensor values/parameters for the Focus mk2.5 1.6 ti-Vct which I can use to compare against?

  38. The ECP Brembo's are shocking. The squeal is between the disc & pad, you can grease them as much as you like, makes no difference. They also produce loads of dust as above. I have a feeling the Brembo pads for cheap cars are made of a completely different compound than those for the premium cars which have Brembo calipers as standard. Although even with those, I remember squealing being a common issue. I've had 3 sets of them on different cars (Focus, Fiesta, A3) and had nothing but problems. I have fitted them to other peoples car (they've supplied them) and had complaints there as well. Would not choose them myself!

  40. I'm at a bit of a conundrum really at the moment - i've got a job which pays fairly well, but is still shift work, with unsociable working. There is career progression, however i'm a bit reluctant to take it due to various other restrictions and changes that would put on my pay and employment contract (increase in pay, but addition of unfavourable terms) plus a much more (theoretically) dangerous job / much more responsibility. I'd also love to start a family (at times, sometimes i'm glad i'm single!), but that requires two and i'm still waiting to find Princess Micro... 😄 (did you know Tinder has a restriction on how many people you can swipe right on?!). I'm not one for splashing the cash though really, i'm a stingy bugger, and would much rather fix existing than buy new. The car was different because I need that to get to work! Holidays? What are they? I'm back to work tomorrow! 😶

  42. I thought I'd just round off this thread. I re-ordered and fitted the correct size Pagid discs. Interestingly when I checked the runout on the 278mm discs it turned out to be greater than with the 300mm, although still well within tolerance. Having now run for just over 800 miles since fitting I can say that the new discs and pads seem to have noticeably more 'bite' than the old Ford originals, although those had started to suffer from rings of corrosion spreading inwards from the outer circumference on the inner faces so that may have compromised their effectiveness. I've had no problems with squeal and found they create much less dust than the Ford ones so overall I'm extremely satisfied with the result.

  43. A common problem is a leaking injector which can cause blue smoke on start up because the injector seal is passing 24/7 it fills the cylinder when the engine is off; this then gets chucked when the engine is operating causing blue smoke, Of there are wires going to a small box which would be fitted to the side of the battery box then it has a dpf. If theres no small box with two cables attached to the left side of the battery box then there is no dpf, Also how reliable in truth or how jealous in spite is this work mate likely to be?

  45. Hi, I had this issue on my Focus about 15 years ago. I spent a fortune trying to sort it. Sender units, fuel pump etc etc (£1200 on a diesel back then). I had to make sure I kept the take 1/4 full. Ford garage (who were trying to fix it) came out twice after me running out of fuel. I ended up keeping a gallon of diesel in the boot and ended up bleeding the the injectors on a few occasions myself. It ended up being a concaved fuel tank (this is what my uncle said it was all along). Replaced the fuel tank and the problem was solved. I was so peed off that I had spent so much money with the Ford garage that I got them to fit a new clutch for free as they wouldn't return the money I paid out for the pump.

  46. @kmoore04uk in general the SDcard is not connected to the specific vehicle so you can try also in Kuga without causing any damage. But the SDcard holds only EU maps not the navigation itself. So if Sync2 in Kuga is a non nav unit (in the top right corner it says "system information" instead of "navigation") it won't work at all because simply, it is a non nav unit. But there is a way how to enable the sat nav in Sync2 and it requires a very very little bit of programming viab OBD port, so if you might wanna try just PM me. Cheers
