Ive bought the car to take to Traxs next month.

Im looking for some second hand parts to buy or borrow.

Decat pipe or a old cat pipe I can cut about

Im based in Basildon Essex

Im also after front 60mm lowering springs on correct shocks Rears as well but only if get fronts.

Alternatively some RUBBER COIL SPRING SPACERS ASSISTERS

Im currently stripping anything not required to save on weight. so far Ive lost 33 kilos :)

I do have an idle hunting issue. unplugging the Maf didnt make any difference.

Ive also removed tape player and fitted cd player. I need tunes lol.

Ive got a front upper strut to fit and will be making a rear one up.

Im also going to chav the rear lights by fitting Lexus style ones.

Only mod car come with is a stainless tail pipe welded on.

Boot pop doesnt work (no supprise there)

any advice on cheap tuning welcome :)

Ordered a tuning box.

??? Should I go with cone filter or panel filter.

???Is there a way to run on 102 ron. Bearing in mind will have sports filter and decat for extra flow.

look forward to your replies cheerspost-23303-0-42682200-1377028110_thumb.j

For the parts, the escort area is a little quiet, so you may struggle to find some on here, but eBay and scrapyards are the best bet.

As for the filter, cone just draws in hot air and wont give you any benefit, so stick with a standard panel filter, or go K&N.

As for the RON, I dont think you will see any benefit. The engine is old enough that it wont really give you any benefit if you could run it.

As for the tuning, start with a premium service, get the engine and cooling systems flushed, then refill with nice new parts, full service should give it a good spring of life.

With the idling issue, is it just erratic? it could be the ICV? otherwise, check all the hoses for any splits or small damage.

Yep gonna service and fit performance panel filter. Will clean icv if get chance. might mix some fuel up then just to give it some extra combustion. Ill check vacums for leaks and kinks. its just irractic it sorts its self out and doesnt stall.

checking the hoses is definately a good place to start.Otherwise, cleaning the ICV and the MAF sensors is a good place to start (just generally good practice :))

hopeing to fit front strut today will add weight but should be more benificail over all, cd going in today and tuning box, door panels off and tails gate stripped. As long as rain holds off.

Then cant do nought till 31st when ill take out seats to get carpet and sound deading out and rear belts out and refit front seats, get the oil and plugs done and batterys charged. Then the wheels will come of and arch linings removed and all jet washed and wheels refitted. Try and look at pipes and icv too. Then to strip as much as I can from engine bay and clean. Vac out car and clean and wax exterior for better air flow. :) weld in rear strutt.

On the 1st new Tax and 4 wheel alignment and balanceing and become my daily for a week :)

Got a rear spoiler not sure its really worth fitting though ???

rear number plate surround will come of on the day along with plates along with interior lights.

Anyone think off any thin else.

Not having much luck with lowering.

I dont think there is much you can do with the spoiler, short of replace it with either a higher spec one from somewhere...

as for the lowering, you just need to find a suitable coilover / lowering spring kit, but as the age of the car shows, they dont have as many parts these days for them...

If its just weight your trying to get rid of, you could remove the panels from all around the car, that will lose some weight, and replace the spare tyre with possibly a spacesaver kit? otherwise, short of removing things like AC (if it has it) or doing some heavy removal (check out this from FOCA: http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/42441-my-mondeo/) that might give you a few ideas :)

I'll peak at that thread, got the Front strutt brace fitted and removed the door panels ect, not weighed it up yet. Air box gone makeing up feed from front of car with filter. replummed vent pipe.

Checked hoses all seem fine. Plugs are well used so need to get a set. Just waiting for freind to fit box.
