hi people

i am very new to this forum having only just registerd and i am looking for a little advice about

my mondeo. i have just aquired a 2.5 v6 mk3. i decided to see what she was capable of on a open quiet road, i dropped the gears

and floored it and to my dissapointment when the revs hit 2500 they stayed there and the engine would'nt go any faster as if it were

governed, into 3rd and she took off until revs hit 4500 and it did it again, into 4th and i was away. dose anyone think i have a major

problem or is it somthing that i may be able to fix, i am all ears. thanks

Mine isn't that bad, but it does seem to run out of puff before I expect, and I think with mine it is down to the throttle cable, as I have quite a bit of movement on the throttle peddle before the throttle actually does anything, and so I think it's never really getting full throttle. Total guess though, I am no expert on these cars like some here :)

Cheers!

I would of thought that it would be a 'fly-by-wire' throttle and not a cable operated system.

certainly doesnt sound right it sounds like its in limp mode restricting the revs to prevent damage though a warning light will usually appear on the dash unless its been removed that is in order to sell the car

He didn't mention what year, but mine is a 2001 Ghia X V6, and it is cable operated, though looking at the engine end there are two cables, but non the less, the throttle certainly isn't fly by wire. Or at least I'm assuming not from seeing said cables? But then we all know what they say about assuming! lol

Cheers!
