Hi, My 02 mondeo 1.8 petrol has developed a fault where the 7.5 amp fuse in the internal fuse box that controls electric mirrors and clock keeps blowing but it also has some control over the instuments as i also loose speedo, rev counter, fuel and temp gauges, i have tried a higher amp fuse but it still blows, it could last 5 minutes or 2 days before blowing

sounds like you could have a short on one of the live wires which the fuse controls,it could be a time consuming job to find where it is.

First place i would check is in the door panels possibly the rubber seal on the window sill could be letting water in to the door thus shorting, although your windows would short too, but worth a look :)

I tried disconecting both door mirrors which made no difference, I've unplugged the clock to see if that helps , may have a look at the loom sockets on the doors next
