when iam accelerating there is a loud hissing noise when windows are closed it dosnt seem too loud as tho its coming thru the vents almost but its not....when windows are down it sound as tho its under the engine somewhere and is quite loud however when it is stationary there is no noise whatsoever. There is no loss of power at all and the turbo is still kicking in. It only started doin it yesterday but its doing my head in.....my car is mondeo estate 51 plate 2.0 tdci (130)

any help here would be greatly appreciated already been to my usual mechanice and he says its nowt to worry about as its just a braided hose rattling but iam worried as it has not done this before.

Hi mate, take a look at the large hose on the front of the engine from the EGR valve to the intercooler these are very prone to spit. Best to take it off to check it properly for any small splits. Hope thats helps Dave

Hi you will need to jack the car up but it is only held on with 2 jubilee clips, one at the top and one at the bottom. Have a good look as it will only have a small split but is a common problem on the TDCI. Hope that helps Dave
