flameowner
Hi, I am in need of urgent advice regarding the above issue. Yesterday the car would not move forward or backwards as if the handbrake was still on (it wasn't). Jacked the car up and the right hand wheel rotates freely but the left hand was sort of locked, it turned very slighlty but 'knocked' at each end of it's stroke as if there was something mechanically stopping it. After jiggling the wheel for a couple of minutes there was a click and the wheel freely rotated. Went for a drive and all was good, no problems. This morning I have exactly the same problem with the same wheel, this time I couldn't free it so decided to take the hub off. Once again it was turning very slightly (so I assume it's not the shoes binding). Whilst trying to get the hub off it again came free and turns as it should. With the hub off I can see no obstructions or obvious problems which would restrict the turning of the wheel. The handbrake seems to operate correctly with the brake shoes 'opening' and 'closing' with the operation of the handbrake. I am a complete loss as to where to go next as there doesn't seem to be anything mechanically stopping the wheel turning but I am sure if I put it back together without doing anything then I will have the same probelm next time I drive it. There doesn't seem to be any problem with the wheel bearing either. Any help, questions, or advice are greatly appreciated.
