Ecu Re-Map Fail

So I took my 60 plate 1.6tdi ZS (90bhp) into two different garages today to have my ecu re-mapped. However both companies were unable to access the ecu as they tell me Ford have now added further encryption. One company is a Superchip dealer and the other was recommended to me.

Anyone else had a 60 plate or newer re-mapped?

Also anyone thinking of getting this done on a newer model should check that the garage have mapped fiestas of your age to avoid a wasted trip.

In the meantime I'm told it could be months before their software is updated to crack the newest Ford ecu. I just have to wait.

They stopped the 90 engine March 2010 (59 plate). Are you sure you don't have the 95?

As far as I'm aware 90 is easily cracked but 95 with DPF is harder but places can do it (e.g. RS Tuning in Leeds)

As above, your engine will be the updated DPF car. Not sure if anywhere have done well with them but RSTuning would be a good bet. They work wonders with the 90 versions and have all the latest software.

It was advertised as 90bhp, manual states figures for 90 Bhp. It's an ex-demo so might of sat unregistered in the showroom.

Is there any other way to check?

i was looking for a tuning, box for my 1.4 TDCi and i fine this DrakeBox2

hard to believe to getting 103BHP from the 1.4 TDCi (68BHP)

or 129BHP from the 1.6 TDCi (90BHP)

TDCi's are very easy to tune and they are very strong engines so can take the extra power. Ive seen quite a few 1.6TDCi mk7 Zetec S getting remapped by a company called RSTuning in Leeds and they usually get from the 90bhp engines between 115-120bhp and mountains of Torque!

Maybe those figures are a bit optimistic. These tuning boxes usually have different levels of power they can give you, say from 1-9 My mate had one in his mk7 TDCI 1.6 and It was very quick but if he put it any further than 6 out of 9 the car would just lose power randomly and act funny.

I've reada few articles now claiming that superchips can remap both the 90ps and 95ps variants of the 1.6TDCI.

Here's one: http://europeanmotornews.com/2011/02/01/superchips-boosts-the-popular-mk-vii-ford-fiesta-1-6-tdci/

However, it doesn't list the 95ps variant on their website, only the 90ps

http://www.superchips.co.uk/search?make=9&fueltype=2&model=ALL

Maybe try contacting them for confirmation, I've also heard many good things about RS Tuning.

I contacted superchips and they told me they don't currently offer a re-map fir the 95bhp version. If I could lend my car to them for tests they would have a look. Can't spare the time so have ordered a tuning box from Tdi-tuning instead and fit fit that instead.

I know from reading other members experiences that fitting to 1.6tdci is a right nightmare. Oh well....
