Streetka Front Bushes Question

Hi newbie here :)

Done a search but can't find the answer.

I have the infamous Streetka front clonk/squeak and garage have confirmed the front rear arm bushes have split. (assume arm is same as wishbone?)

They say whole arm has to be ordered at £100 a side! But they will fit new bushes if I supply them.

I don't want to fit cheap copies off eBay (unless you think they are perfectly good enough) so was looking at Powerflex but can't see any for the Streetka. Do they do them?

Or can anyone tell me where I can get decent items cheaper than getting the whole arm?

My car is a 55 2005 model.

Thanks for any help :)

Better off getting the whole wishbone and it can be a pain to compress the bush out the old wishbone. Google eurocarparts.

Thanks for any help :)

Thanks very much.

I found that parts of Buyparts :) (assume these are not OEM)

My mechanic (who is ex-Ford) says it shouldn't be a problem transferring the old old bushes out for the new ones but I have heard that the joints may not be as good afterwards (or something).

If he CAN do it do you suggest I just leave it at that? The problem here is if the old arm is weakened I have to pay labour again to have the arms replaced. But if I just have the new arms fitted straight away is it possible the quality could be inferior and I would have to have an alignment done.

Given the choice of swapping the bushes (if he can do the job ok) or fiting the after-market arms as well which would you do?

I done the lower ball joint wishbone on my fiesta last week and i did'nt have to do the alignment has you don't go near the track rod arm. I would do the the whole arm save haveing further issues in the future.

Thanks for your help. My mechanic is confident he can do it with the original arms so I am trying that first. :)

OK he has done the job. Said it was easy and showed me the old bushes which were indeed shot.

But.....the squeak is still there. It's like a shimmy type noise when you go over a bump. It is not consistant with the wheel moving up and down etc but more like something shaking. It's a metallic squeak a bit like you get with a tailgate lock or seat back etc except it's coming from the front drivers side.

Does anyone else have this? Is it just scuttle shake?

Don't know the make sorry but got it from here

http://www.buypartsby.co.uk/bushes-mountings-final.php?year=2005&Submit=Next&make=Ford&model=Ka⊂=&eng=1.6000

(scroll down for the Streetka)

It's just a straight swap.

It could well be another bush although he thinks they are all good. Annoying but may just have to live with it.
