How Did I Do That? Ford Audio, Mk7

I have Fiesta Titanium 2011 with Sony Radio,

I usually play music from my iPhone 4 via bluetooth,

Today my phone needed charging so I plugged it into the USB port for the first time using the cable supplied with my iPhone. this cut out the blue tooth music.

I progressed through the settings not really knowing what I was doing, and my songs came on the screen, and low and behold so did the sound!

I drove for a few miles and liked the idea I could change tracks from the screen,

I stopped at the shop and switched the car off but left the phone connected. The problem is I can't get it to do it again, even tried getting in the car with the phone as before

How did I do it? Any ideas?

Sorted

Plug the iPhone only into usb, press aux, scroll up to iPod

Hey presto full menu, songs, albums, playlists, press iPhone home button and select ford audio to get sound

NO ford Y leaded needed

Phone calls are received as normal

Not yet found how to get full control from steering wheel, volume works fine

I have same car(61 plate). I bought a y cable from eBay for 4 pounds. This gives you full functionality I.e tracks from I phone on screen, sound, telephone calls and you can use the steering wheel buttons. Quality is excellent. Better than bluetooth and your phone always has a full charge.

Can I ask if your Sony radio has DAB radio? According to brochure it has but I have been unable to receive any stations..

All now sorted

When I get into my car the iPhone 4 dock connector cable is already plugged into USB

Start the engine, Plug in the iPhone

Press aux scroll to ipod, music plays but no sound

Go back to iPhone tap iPod

Next screen very bottom, tap small arrow, dock connector

Select ford audio, now you have sound

Full control from dash and steering wheel

No Y lead or aux lead needed

Please note when using this method or bluetooth

iPod music must be selected in the phone and paused

  • 1 month later...

I just bought a cheap 8GB memory stick, copied all my music onto it and leave it plugged in all the time. It's a tiny memory stick and it's like having a hard drive in the car. It then leaves the BT just for my phone and means no cables but great sound quality. Also means all my music is there even if I go out without my phone.

It's just a shame you can't navigate the menus from the steering wheel (or at least I can't figure out how!)

Cheers

Rog
