Possible Flywheel Failure. Zetec-S Fiesta 1.6 Tdci

Just thought i'd ask on here for a bit of advice regarding the flywheels in the 2006 Zetec-S 1.6 TDCi.

I went to look at one today with 48,000 miles on the clock and when i started it up, there was a slight rocking movement as the car ticked over. I was just wondering if this is normal for these engines, especially considering the low miles it has covered? I currently own a Corsa 1.3 CDTi which has more mileage but there is no rocking movement/vibrating on idle. I went to see another Fiesta a couple of years ago where the rocking was a lot worse than the car i viewed today so i put it down to the flywheel. Any advice would be great. Thanks. :)

Hello and welcome to the forum.

The rocking movement could be down to a worn engine or gearbox mount

Won't be the flywheel, went to buy a similar age car for a mate and the engine mountings were worn. Repeated fast take-offs!

Thank-you for your replies :) Much appreciated. I wasn't sure what was causing the problem myself, i took somebody with me and they seemed sure that it was a flywheel problem, as the same movement was happening on their Mondeo before their changed that part. But as you say could have been the engine moutings as all cars are different. Wish i could go back and buy it with that in mind. Was over a 2 hour trip today to view it.
