unionjack81
Hi, I bought a 2003 Fiesta 1.4 Zetec last year and began to encounter problems from the start. It began losing power initially and then failed to start. Took it back to the dealer who said it was a coil pack. It drove ok for a while and then I had to take it back again. Coil pack again. Some 9 months later, the car began to play up once more. This time I took it to my mechanic who advised that it was a coil pack problem. After I forked out for the diagnostic check and the new coil pack, the car seemed to be fine. However, 2 months later and it's playing up again!!!!!!!!!!!! On top of that, there's an engine warning light on which he says is probably the CAT that's been damaged with all the mis-firing. I think I read somewhere else in the forum about disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes? Before I take this car back to my mechanic and probably spend another couple of hundred quid, does anyone have any suggestions? Any help would be very much appreciated. Cheers. fiestafury
I also have a 2003 fiesta - 1.4 3 door zetec. Last night (for the first time) my coil pack went. Initally i thought it was the exhaust as it was always a bit of a rattler. Last night it lost loads of power, really noisy so I thought it was the exhaust. A few minutes later, the engine light came on so took it to mechanic today. new coil pack - £77...now i'm stuck with that light on. Mechanic didn't switch it off and recommended an auto-spark to do it...I hope this isn't going to be the start of things to come!
mintalkin
did they change the plug leads at the same time as the coil pack as a damaged lead will ruin the coilpack.
gearbox
common fault on fiesta ,check spark plugs are not coverd with water as the washer jets let water in,if okay renew plugs ,leads and check conntact on coil pack were leads connect if conntact burnt change coil. as for the the warning light ,the lamba sensor usally goes before the cat.
