Just got some LEDs for the footwell and they look amazing

But Is there any way to keep the footwell

Lights on when the car lights are on ?

As they only seem to be on when the doors are open

Not as standard

But

Purchase a 3 way rocker switch and some 3 amp cable,

Re-wire the loom for the foot well lighting so as it doesn't connect to the gem,

Then run a 2 core feed to the interior light and down the A pillar

1 core spliced to switched live I.e. active when door opened

1 core spliced to constant live I.e. switchable from the 3 way switch

So then you can choose to switch between constant live, off, or auto

You've posted this in the guides section Jack, I've moved it over to Fiesta's for you.

And you shouldn't need your feet lit up when driving ;)

If you fit lights that come on with your headlights i strongly recommend a switch so if you find them too bright or distracting while driving you can switch them off.

You wouldn't want any of my bretheren to pull you with them on either as it can be considered as a distracting influence and result in a roadside rewiring session.

There must be a wire that becomes live when the lights come on because the interior lights up when you turn them on ie stereo, heater controls and so on be easier to wire it to that

There would be a few yes,

If I had a Haynes manual for the mk7 fiesta I could tell you which ones,

But to perform the 2 way operation you must disconnect them from there existing switchable source which is the GEM

Because if you don't disconnect from the GEM,

When you put power to them from another source,

It will send power to the GEM aswell when its not supposed to and could damage the GEM unit very costly,

But simple,

Trace the foot well loom under the glove box and snip the feed leading to the GEM or fuse board,

Cut the orange cable and run a feed from either section to your 3way switch,

The side leading from the GEM is your auto on feed

The section leading to the foot well lights is your foot well light feed out, connect that to your 3way switch

Splice the foot well loom in to a new 3amp cable and run it to a 3way switch,

Purchase some female red insulated spade connectors,

Acquire a switched interior light positive, splice a feed from it to the 3way switch

Job done,
