V-Power Nitro+ And Unexpected Side Effect

Torque I believe is available for Android and Apple alike. Most bluetooth adapters and softwares are generally compatible, however, some combinations may lose functionality. For example, you can buy a £5 bluetooth OBD Connector that could allow you access to read the ECU, error codes, and remove them and thats it, others (say £10) may give access to some live data, others are more superior.

To be honest, for basic code reading and wiping, any bluetooth OBD device would generally be compatible, unless you get the orange one, which is known not to work...

I have found BP ultimate to be better in my 1.6 petrol focus, it doesnt feel the same when using v-power nitro+, it feels much smoother and more punchy using bp ultimate.

I was never a BP fan and always used to use v-power but i am defo turned towards ultimate, it has a lower octane rating of 97 but just seems to suit my focus better. Ford recomends it (advertising deal)

Plus i seem to get marginal better mpg from ultimate doing similar driving routes.

It would be interesting to see if you notice any difference in your engine as in smoothness of power delivery and general refinement?

Me personally, my tank range has increased by 20 miles so the MPG must be improved.

The thing is, the extra cost over normal V-Power cancels out the extended range...... hmmmm.

Never tried BP in any of my cars but I think I might give it a go, just as a little experiment....

Begs the question, and I am not trying to contradict what anyone is saying, is the added cost of the fuel, is it 5p a litre, versus the better mpg actually cost effective? And, for truly scientific purposes, this theory that it is 'better' really needs verification on a rolling road under controlled environmental conditions...

Dont disagree with you cuke. For me, I pay about 3p per litre more at Shell, than the local supermarkets. Over a tank of fuel thats about 1.50 - 2.00 extra cost, for the higher quality fuel and the (personal experience) proven increase in MPG using that fuel.

I personally find my cars, route to work, driving style and day to day conditions, benefit more overall from the extra £2.00 per tank, over the supermarket equivalent.

and you're also keeping the engine cleaner, less gunk and prolonging the life of the EGR, injectors etc

EGR can swindle ;) lol, I blanked that off, so it doesnt worry me, as for the rest though - cant agree more! I used to swear by supermarket fuel, once upon a time when money wasnt so much of a concern and when I just swapped the car because I couldnt be bothered to fix it lol, but now those days have gone, and I need to look after my investment a lot more, and so things like this, are just essential!

the difference between fuel saver and optimax nitro is 10p per litre, supermarkets are about 3p difference between normal diesel...... this will be a test ,as the car has just recieved a full service inc fuel filter (bugger to do) so it runs better for a start... egr has been blanked off, so there is smoothness and better power delivery, especially when pulling off..... normally around town we get about 39-41 mpg driving depending.... the car is now 46.1, this will decrease with my heavy foot, but im trying to keep it sencible for a few days to get a good average....

All petrol comes from the same refinery.

I'm not paying 10p more for additives. I agree the fuel mabye better but in a 1.6 focus it runs just aswell on tesco or asda stuff.

I only put bp in if I have a fuel voucher. I put in some v power once every 4 months to keep things smooth.

Never had an issues in the car or previous cars that used supermarket petrol.

Yes I agree with people argument over the inflated cost of super unleaded vs the true mpg gain over standard if any at all, but I must admit I do get a better driving experience and that the higher quality fuel is doing some long term benefits to my car. I don't use v power or bp ultimate for solely an mpg increase I tend to try and buy into the facts that's it's a better fuel for my long term investment which is my car. It might all be in my head all this extra benefits but it makes me enjoy driving a lot more when my car feels smoother more responsive and quieter

Only it depends as too whether supermarket fuel versus this more expensive fuel is actually benefiting engines. Just because the sales pitch says so I do wonder is there really much difference in the blends? Tests on petrol engines have been performed that do suggest this more expensive fuel only benefits more highly tuned engines, which stands to reason...

100% agree pal.

Its all about the experience and pleasure you get from driving your car (investment).

I personally "felt" the difference after a few miles of driving and for that reason alone, I will not go back to supermarket fuel again!

I honestly don't mind paying 2-3p more per litre if puts a smile on my face. :)
