B13
Hmmm...Just had a look through the brochure for the 2009 - 2012 Fiesta van - and in it, it says that the Trend variant of the van has an audio unit that has bluetooth and USB connectivity, etc. It also says that the Sport variant has the same features as the Trend (I own the Sport) and a whole heap of other bits that make the Sport variant top-of-the-range.My 2010 Sport van's audio unit doesn't have USB connectivity, it's the bog-standard basic version (albeit with bluetooth, just no USB). Has anyone got any ideas why it doesn't have what the brochure says it should have…?(And yes, I know that this is probably the most random, pondering query of the day, but if we have any nice knowledgeable people out there who could settle my ever-curious mind (before I go an terrorise the poor chap at Dag'num Ford tonight where my (Sport) van is currently in for repairs) that'd be cool!!) ;) See attached pic for 'proof'... :D
luke.grimbley
I know some of the head units in Ford's have capabilities such as bluetooth but you are required to buy a separate 'module' to plug into the back in order for this to work. Maybe there is a USB add on of some kind? Could be wrong so I'd definitely bring it up with them and see what they say.
D13 HPD 95
i know if the usb isnt next to the aux plug on the centre consol, check the glove box for one, incase they wired it up differently but apart from that if it says it black and white it should have one it should have one i dont see why they wont put one in when its been stated on 1000's of brochures so complain, ask if they can find a usb port anywhere in the car that u can use to play music into and why it isnt in the centre consol if they carnt ask them to put one in free of charge as they have mis sold the car to you! Mordey
Have a look at the link. Put your reg in and it will show you exactly what's on your van http://www.etis.ford.com/vehicleRegSelector.do;jsessionid=C4DAAFE4A2BA929579F5D469F7F92A68.eccvas510
potter18
There's probably a disclaimer somewhere in the brochure saying specification may vary
B13
Yeah… turns out that USB connectivity was only offered from 2011 onwards. Mine is a 2010 model, darn it!!The guys at Dag'num Motors were really good though: even though it was the end of the day, they did a thorough search round to find out if my van was a 'misbuild' or if there was a USB socket in the glovebox (as D13 HPD 95 mentioned) before finally phoning through to Somewhere Else who told them about the change of spec in 2011.They quoted me around £250 (ballpark) to retro-fit the correct sockets, cabling and re-programming of the unit, etc but if we have anyone on here who could do it (properly!!), I'd be interested in getting a quote...(I've seen it done in this thread: http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/28485-retro-fit-usb-it-works/#entry153715) ;) Brilliant link there, Mordey, by the way. I'll bookmark that one for later. Ta!! B)
iNath
To retrofit USB will cost £135-£185 in parts depending how much you can get the bluetooth & USB module for. You then need to pay someone to program the car.
B13
Ooo thanks! My van already has bluetooth, just no USB. Or is it a combined module/part? Long shot, I know, but do you (or anyone reading this) know of anyone in the South East who could do it? :)
iNath
It's a combined module which replaces your bluetooth only one (and you can then sell)
