OutOfFocus
Please help! I have a 2006 Focus 1.6 tdci, which I recently jacked up for an oil change, but on dropping the car back down off axle stands the car won't start! I am pretty certain I have narrowed it down to a problem with the fuel system, but can't get it to work. I believe that the previous model had a fuel shut off switch (or inertia switch), but I can't seem to find it on this model. Does anyone know where it is, or if this model even has one? Thanks in advance, Rick.

JW1982
Based on the owners manual the Diesel versions of the Focus MK2/MK2.5 do not have a fuel cut off switch. The fuel cut off switch is only used on the Duratec Petrol engines.
OutOfFocus
Thanks for this information, it does appear there isn't a fuel cut off switch. It would appear there is no fuel getting to the injectors or fuel pump, and I have been told by a mobile mechanic that my high pressure fuel pump is knackered! Which is going to cost the best part of £1000 to fix. I have been advised by a different garage, however, that there is a low pressure pump in the tank which is more likely to be the culprit. On getting a quote from another garage, I have also been told that there is no low pressure pump on the 1.6 diesels and everything is driven by the crank driven high pressure pump. I am therefore very confused and unsure where to turn! Does anyone know if there is a low pressure pump on the 1.6 dielels? To make things worse, the high pressure pump is now making a horrible noise (from the solenoid I think). Does anyone have any words of wisdom?
