Permasealed The Car

I have just treated the car to the PermaSeal treatment found here:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Professional-10-YEAR-PTFE-CAR-WAX-POLISH-SPECIALIST-POLISH-PROTECTION-and-SHINE-/121345052503?pt=UK_Car_Accessories_Car_Care_Cleaning&hash=item1c40ba8f57

Now, I don't believe for a minute that it will last 10 years, however I have used this stuff on my previous 2 cars and have found it good for at least 3 years.

I was offered the Supaguard Treatment for £250 when I bought my last Focus and the one before but knowing I could buy the kit myself for £10 I decided to do it myself. I found the Supaguard Treatment only lasted for 6 months on the paintwork but the wheel treatment and interior guard sprays worked much better. The PermaSeal is far superior in my mind. The only downside is you have to wax and buff the car twice, so is fairly time consuming.

I also sealed the wheels with some Autoglym Wheel Sealer. Never tried this stuff before so I hope it lasts a good while.

Sounds good, is that on top of the usual polish and wax?

Nope. The first treatment cleans and preps the paintwork, then the second waxes and seals it. No harm in waxing beforehand but I doubt there would be any benefit.. I had last Autoglymed mine about 3 months ago.

Sounds good, I am thinking once I get scratches sorted and the bodywork in the best shape I can get it, then I will probably be looking to do something to try and safeguard the bodywork.

I am going to be asking some advice in a few minutes actually but wonder if permaseal might be the right answer!

Just Google Boora Permaseal.

There is another product called Permaseal that uses a powder that is mixed with water. I wouldn't fancy using something like that because it has to be abrasive.

Swissvax's general purpose wax that last 12 months is £800 odd quid a tub! Gyeon's is a fair bit cheaper, but if you get it wrong it can only be removed by machine polishing (Both companies are highly respected by the way). And some guy is managing to sell this permaseal at £20 quid a go that lasts triple that!?

I hope I'm wrong, the guy will be a millionaire in no time!

When I bought my car last March I used Autoglym Ultra Shine on it but the paint surface still felt a little rough. With the PermaSeal it is so smooth the door keeps slipping out of my hand when opening and closing. The finish is the best I have experienced.

I personally use Autofinesse tough coat or Wolfs body wrap, both are exceptional sealants and with the correct decontamination stages done can last months, tough coat I have over 6 months and have seen body wrap last a year.

Perhaps one of these is the answer to my question then!

The better the prep the longer the sealant will last, I personally wash with a strong shampoo, use iron x, clay the car, 2 stage polish with my rotary with menzerna polishes and the paint is not in bad nick, then ipa wipe then sealant, works well every time for me

Sounds alright, sadly I dont have the funds for all that investment, but even if it lasts 6 months then its got to be worth it!

Try autosmarts tardis before your iron x Pete. It removes organic contamination. It might save you having to clay it.

Nice job there mate,

Really need to give my cars bodywork some attention,

The last thing I did (other than wash) was put on some Armour All Shield Wax last October.

You did a good job of getting Ford into your pic,

Ford Escort, Fiesta, Focus, Fusion, Mondeo & Transit

Its a stretched 3 door Focus :D

I haven't had it long but I couldn't bare to leave this forum. Plus I have got to replace the wifes car some time, and it will be with a Ford.

I was referring to all your neighbours cars ;)

There are 6 different Fords in that photo, the wife will have to get a Kuga or a KA, she wouldn't want to clash with a neighbour

My Neighbour is a Sales Manager at Lookers Ford in Colchester and I suppose because the only Car Dealership in South Woodham Ferrers is Lookers Ford, thats where most of the locals go. I have had 4 cars from them.
