I just rang up ford as my car is due it's first MOT and is due a full service.

They quoted me £308 for both.

Is it just me or is that well over priced?

I do obviously want to keep a full ford service history.

Yeah, he said oil chance, oil filter, pollen filter, spark plugs air filter. That's what he said on the phone.

Just checked 2 local dealers and one was £269 and the other £330 so certainly worth shopping around.

Ok thank you.

They quoted me 269 at my local dealership I just thought that was a lot.

Typical main dealer price. My wife's Suzuki Swift got an MOT and service yesterday. Main dealer price was £275. We booked it in to a garage Ive used for ten years and trust. Their price for exactly the same work was £163. Worth shopping around

Yeah I can get it done cheaper, but I will be selling next year so I would prefer to have full ford service history!

Yeah my mums 208 Gti was £300 just for an interim service!

Stupid prices from dealers really.

Trust me when I say a "Full Ford service History" is worth no more than a full service history. It will not mean anything when you sell the car. A service history is what it is.

I own an RS and won't trust Ford with servicing it. My local trusted garage use all Ford parts and charge half the price.

I have mine coming up this month, you do get a years breakdown cover with it.

i went with ford because i could finance the service and mot in with the current price i pay. only added on a few quid which means when i come round to service and mot, i dont have to fork out for anything or find a lump sum. just had it over and its done :)

I will probably just go with it to be honest.

I don't have finance so I wasn't aware you could do that :/ oh well I will do it next time.

Cheers everyone!

Hi Will-MK7

i didn`t have finance ,its just Fords Smart service option where you agree to pay a set price every month ,then come your MOT / service you don`t have one big price to pay ,as a result you get a reduced price and a discount if any parts are needed .And as an added bonus Fords breakdown assisatnce thrown in.

Oh sweet,

If had of known I may have done it but I didn't really intend to keep my current car long anyway.

Thanks for the heads up mate! I may get it on my new ford.
