WELSHSTEVE
I have a 58 plate 2Ltr mondeo estate, 157,000 miles i have also developed a loud rumbleing noise on the belt side of the engine.. the rumble noise is only there at tickover, and the beit vibrates quite a bit. when revs are up to 100rppm every thing goes quiet and runs smoothley. could this be as "advised by a friend" the clutch in the Alternator pulley. I didn't know an Alternator even had a clutch. or somthing else? Please help
Ben87
Hi The older Mondeos (mk3) were really bad for the fan belt tensioner and crank pulley dampers for going. I'm not a hundred percent if the newer Mondeos have the same kind of setup but could be worth having someone look at them too to make sure there ok.
