Mental_Atom
It's a nightmare! Or is it just me? One of my little plastic screw-clip things has stripped so the headlight doesn't come out, so I had to change one of the bulbs in situe which was a huge pain! Also, the clip under the headlight is a massive pain, so hard to get it out and get it back in! Is it just me who thinks it's a rage-inducing process? Share your rants here :D
MarksST
You were probably being too gentle with it, the clip on the slam panel just needs prising out, the clip underneath just need a quick pull upwards.

I tried prising it, but I just got loads of scratches on the panel, cut myself, and it didn't come out. I seem to be terrible at car maintainence :L
Phil 87
I had the exact same problem with the little screw clips, definitely rage-inducing as you say. I stripped one of them but managed to get it out somehow. I also couldn't just prise it out until I could get the screw out of the clip, maybe that could be done with a screwdriver (by prising the screw out of the clip first) because then the clip comes straight out. Share your rants here :D I didn't fully take my units out to change mine, I just undid the top and bottom screws and lifted them up just enough to get to the bulbs :) was a bit fiddly but managed to keep all my fingers ;) haha Sent from my iPad using Ford OC
MattDRX
Think my NS is held in by Gravity alone, that giant clip is a mare snapped it right off and the clips wouldn't come out so I snapped em off like a BOSS!
Mental_Atom
Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one who's had crazy issues with them. Has to be said there's no chance of them being insecure though lol
MattDRX
I tried to get Ford to replace the clip FOC, nothing in the manual says there is a clip there, it just says unscrew and lift off. which in reality means yank it off as hard as you need to. Yeah it's ridiculous. You also have to remove the small plastic clip which the manual also says nothing about.
Jeff4155
There is a very good explenation on how to take your lights out on this site, I made use of it, in the end its still the hardest car to change a light bulb on that I have worked on, good luck

dmizz93
You can change the main beams in situ for about two mins aside... Okay the first one took me 10 but the second one literally a minute.. Dipped you have to take the unit off unless you fancy modifying your washer fluid reservoir :P Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
NathJ
I agree! It is an absolute nightmare. I mean I am a bit handy with tools and fixing things etc but changing the bulbs is an absolute farce with this car ha! Granted that if you have hands like a spatula then you may be able to get away with not having to take the whole unit off to replace/remove them. Also I made a big boo boo, well when I say that I mean that I'm sure an elf or something had stolen from me. Basically I had the two torx headlight screws in my pocket and leaned over in my car to press the clutch and start the car with my hands and I heard the two screws fall out of my pocket. Conveniently one of them fell in the cupholder but the other one is nowhere to be seen in my car, bearing in mind the car is brand new and there is absolutely no clutter or anything in it, I spent a good 40 mins checking every crevice but I cannot for the life of me find it in my car! So I have made the conclusion that it has been stolen or could have been magic right? So my question is where can I get a replacement headlight screw online? I think that they are torx 27 if I am right in saying. Cheers in advance guys.

Somebody must have asked for one for Christmas so an elf came and stole it! :P If I remember correctly you can use torx or flat-blade screwdrivers to open them (that's why they're a weird shape). It threw me too!

It threw me too! Haha, believe me that it drove me up the wall so much so that I was questioning myself and even starting looking in the glovebox! Yes, you can use a long/large flat head on it as well but it would ideally be for a torx head which I didn't have so I also used a flat head reluctantly as I didn't want to crush the screw head pattern, but as long as you have one that fits into it snug then it should be fine. Seems like it is going to be a long day looking for a replacement as I can't seem to find one just yet!
