MarksST
What have people paid new recently? If you look at the second hand prices they must have got them new well under the 18000 mark to be selling them for £12.5k at only a year old.. As long as i can get a blue on from ford with style pack ill be happy! The used price is being affected by the low prices some people have been getting them for, why would you buy a used car for more than the price of a new car. If people can get a ST2 new for £15k then a used ST2 has to be lower to attract a buyer, unless the used buyer is only aware of the rrp, in which case a used ST2 at £15.5k for example looks like a good deal. NH10GEL
I paid £16250 for my Blue ST3 delivered 2 weeks ago. No options, No style pack. That was via Carwow who put you in touch with dealers directly before you commit to buy. It came from a Ford dealer in the East Midlands. It will be the case that they sold it below invoice price but as stated they get bonuses and incentives based on volume of units sold so that's where their profit comes from. This is the point im getting at (: Im not willing to buy an st2 second hand even from a dealer for over 12k really maybe 12.5 when i know people are getting them new for little over 15k! dmizz93
My thoughts exactly.. Not sure what dealers charge % wise for cost of credit used but 4.2% for new isn't bad at all. Considering if you go for a bank loan buying a 2nd hand car at say 8-10% it then further minimises the difference between used and new... New all the way! StevenST13
So I've looked in to DTD and I wouldn't go there. There's far to many horror story's about how cars are delivered and presented. Seems to me that it's all about failing dealerships trying to hit targets anyway possible.
MarksST
You can go to them and collect the car, which is what I did. Travelled from Sussex to the ford dealer in North wales. Checked the car over as you would if you used a local dealer and then had a nice drive home. If you don't want to use them that's fine but, get a quote from them and ask local dealers to match it. If they want or need the BUINESS they might. No point in paying near the RRP, all your doing is giving the dealers more profit, the service/experience from the isnt all that either.
Phil 87
I just don't trust a site that can sell a £17995 car for £15541. Even if ford are doing a promotional price at £175 for style pack. I got about £2600 off the retail price of my ST3 through Carwow, and as Mark pointed out you can get much bigger discounts than that these days. As long as you're getting the car from a dealer I don't think it matters what site you go through. You'll still get a new car with a warranty. So I've looked in to DTD and I wouldn't go there. There's far to many horror story's about how cars are delivered and presented. Seems to me that it's all about failing dealerships trying to hit targets anyway possible. I don't know how DTD works but that certainly wasn't the case with Carwow. The dealer with the lowest price was just a normal Ford dealer, probably better than average in terms of customer service (I couldn't tell how well they were doing but certainly didn't come across as a failing business). I tried to get them to lower the price even more but they said there is very little margin at the price they offered. That could have just been salesman tactics but either way they made a profit on the car.
S1600white
Either way it looks like if you pay any where near the rrp your being ripped off as can get them 2/3k less new. Will be a few weeks before i make a decision but really like what ford has to offer. From what i have seen nothing comes close.
Willy
I went through car wow and saved about £2000 off the rrp. Ford Dealers quote you a price through carwow and you just pick the cheapest / closest price and buy direct from that dealer, easy. It's funny as one member on here went to there local dealer to get a decent quote but was unsuccessful. Then then went on carwow and got a lower quote from the same dealership. Mad.

If you're not doing that or Car Wow, then you're just pouring money away.
Philf1
Agree car wow is way to go wish I'd known about it when I got mine although I did get a pretty good deal from my salesman as it was 2nd new car I'd bought off him in 9 months. My son used car wow and got the best price from same dealership. Went for initial quote off salesman then hit him with the car wow price. Even he was surprised how good it was Will definitely use it next time Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC mobile app

That is mad, unless they think they're building up a reputation on Carwow as opposed to someone buying a car from them and not telling anyone about it. But even then I don't see how a little online reputation can be worth £2000. Of course it could just be down to timing.

Barryh1988
Wow some people deffently need to haggle more. I found the car I wanted on the net, went into my local ford garage for a test drive, shown them the offer and they beat it. Brand new ST3 in White with the style pack and rear parking sensors all still new in its wrap for £16,500. Oh and taxed, 1/3 tank of fuel and St floor mats. louisscale
I was pleased with my deal on a used one. Went to the Evans Halshaw branch that gave me a deal when I bought my old car and was told "that's not how it works" when I mentioned them moving on price (Which lead to my wife exclaiming "what do you mean!? Of course that is how it works, that is how its always worked! You are a used car salesman, sell us a used car!") Maybe they didn't need the sale that month or something because we walked out. Had a good look around and found a guy on a well known car forum looking to sell his ST-2. He was actually a Ford engineer and had purchased it through their employee scheme. It still had finance on it but we very carefully negotiated that when it came to selling. This car was first sold to him new in September 2013, which makes it 15 months old, and I got it (after negotiation) for 12k. It has miles on it, sure, but the thing is spotless and has been properly cared for (he even gave me instructions on heating up and cooling down before/after driving) It is a decision only you can make, but this guy drove a 17k car off of the forecourt and sold it for 12k. These cars will hold their value as they are considered a modern classic, but I believe that value will be held after the initial point of sale. It's a personal choice, but there are plenty out there around this price point.

Phil 87
Whats people opinions on the orange colour, how does it look in person? It looks great, saw one at Ford Fair in the sun and it really stands out from other colours. It's not for me though, a bit too flashy :P
ifoundmyalloys
My mate has the molten orange and in anything except bright sunshine, it kinda looks like race red...

Phil 87
Yes I think blue was definitely the best colour until it became so common. If you compare it in bright sunlight, on a dull or overcast day and then at night with just a little light reflecting off it, it's like 3 different types of paint :). It has an almost pearlescent effect at night - I think that's why they call it spirit blue because it kind of looks like the colour is fading in and out. E5GDM
Whats people opinions on the orange colour, how does it look in person? Looks awesome in the sunlight on a nice sunners day when it's all clean & polished, the rest of the time it looks awful.....IMO.
