simcor
I think so I thought the M2.5 had the coated DPF.
A_Jobson
I think I'll have to do some research on this. If you find out anything else, keep me updated? :) Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
simcor
Check the filler cap for the magnet that counts how many times the fuel flap has been opened, if it has a magnet then it uses Eolys fluid if no magnet it is the coated DPF that doesn't, I believe the consensus is the coated DPF is supposed to last the lifetime of the car so it would only really need to show the pressure and temperature for diagnosis I guess. Mainly just for the reason of diagnostics for doing forced regeneration.
Dee_82
the euro 4 didn't originally come with the DPF, it was added on a bit later, im guessing as a test run before the euro 5 spec was phased in. the Euro 5 built on the lessons learned from the Euro 4 and was built with ceramics which heated up better and didn't need additives to get to a high enough temp to turn the soot to ash Mk2.5s had the Euro 4+DPF initially and later phased in to the Euro 5, I think it was around 2010 this happened
Micklfix
Hi just to jump in on your conversation I too have a 2010 1.6 tdci and can’t view those pids either and believe I too have a coated dpf, don’t know how the regents are worked out I think it has something to do with the dps sensor, have you had any faults related to egr as I keep getting it’s stuck open and stuck closed and a few other’s I know it’s clean because I done it a few months ago seems a lot of people have same issues you would think if so many people have the same problems ford should be looking for a solution not us having to spend £after £ for solutions

That's a risk we all accept when owning an older car. You will have a coated DPF on a 2010 Focus. Cleaning EGR's rarely works on these, it's usually the electronic part that fails. Chances are, fitting a new EGR valve will cure your fault. Just make sure it's a good quality item, ideally with a couple of years warranty.

I was thinking that it must be electrical as there’s too many fault’s showing eg stuck open stuck closed, frozen etc it can only be one or the other at one particular time does the egr generally cause jerky throttle response at 1400 rpm as you back off accelerator i know you have probably read lots of similar stories about same issue and also them being fussy to what make egr valves you use apparently vaelo is what they had from factory mines has an smp so think it must have been changed before so it’s either egr or faulty electrical in the pcm . And it wasn’t till I had submitted comment that I realised it was so old haha thanks for reply

Apparently the ones that fit the French version of these engines are Identical to the Ford ones except the Electrical side which works on different voltages. There is some information on the Valeo site but it is difficult to find. The chances of your aftermarket one being correct are small. For info here is a photo of the one that was fitted to my 2010 Tdci when I had one.
