21200
Ok so my car failed its MOT today, I'm told by the garage that it needs a new O2 sensor or Lambda sensor they said. They wish to use some cheap crap part which I'm not overly keen on and my car went in with functioning brakes and came away with no brakes at all so I'm not crazy with joy today. It failed on emissions for CO2 at idle excessive CO2 at second fast ideal excessive lambda reading after second fast idle outside specific limits They say that replacing this sensor will turn my engine management light off and fix all those issues, I hope they are right. After spending some time on Google, I've discovered I will find this sensor by the exhaust end where the fumed come out? However there is 2 of these sensors. How the heck do I know which one to replace. The one at the bottom end (fume escape end) or the other side? Sorry for the complete dumb !Removed! terminology here! Thanks for reading! It's a 2005 Fiesta Ztec Climate

21200
I've no idea they didn't say, they charged me £25 to plug some gadget thing in that reads faults garages are mainly a joke. I'm guessing both of these are exactly the same so the car just has 2 of these? It's pot luck now which one do I replace they didn't exactly give me much to go on. 21200
The garage want £75+vat fitted so I'm guessing it must be the front O2 sensor as that's the cheaper of the two to purchase. I'm going to have to take pot luck on this, so if anyone has any ideas on this it would be really helpful. If the front sensor located at the back of the car near the end of the exhaust? iantt
Front one needs doing , its that one that controls the fueling, lambda reading shows that , the rear one checks the cat is working. so its the one nearest the engine you need to replace. That will sort your lambda reading then hopefully the cat should start to work and bring down your c.o readings .

iantt
Its under bonnet at rear of engine bay partialy covered by a heat shield thats held on by 4 bolts , I would advise getting either a proper hego sensor socket or get some who has to do it for you, they can be very tight to undo. good luck. 21200
I totally hear what you're saying, I'm going to need something to release this anyway I've never heard of a Hugo sensor socket. How does this one look? Do tell me to kingly P****** I do tend to lack a lot of knowledge but I'm good at retaining for future reference. The most I've done is breaks and an oil change. They went well but took me time as intake it slow and make sure I don't miss anything. Thanks again big time !! http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=131202251815 Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
iantt
hego,( heated oxygen sensor) the tool you linked to is ok, what rachet/ bar have you got to go on the socket ? the one that you linked to is 3/8 drive, i would get one 1/2 in drive if you have 1/2 in socket set etc, they can be tight and a fairly big bar is needed to undo

stef123
Try a 22mm spanner on it first if you have one, be surprised at how many of them come out with no hassle.
