Enjoying My New Mondeo, But Tech Still Seems 'iffy'

I received my new car last Thursday. I went for the 2.0 180PS with the Titanium X pack.Beautiful looking car IMO. Lots of power. Big wheels. Not done many miles yet though: actually looking forward to my first long journey!

So, the tech...I, like many others, love a gadget or two. I opted for the Sony stereo upgrade. The sound quality is excellent: much better than the Skoda Superb Elegance I have come from.

I am still getting to grips with the way things work. Voice control seems a little 'iffy' at the moment - it must be my northern accent!

I use an iPhone 6 plus which seems to connect easily enough via bluetooth. All my music is on my iPhone, but it seems that I can only do things like 'play similar' tracks if I connect the phone via USB. Also, when I first connected the phone via USB, the car built a database of all my music. I thought it would only have to do this once, but it seems to happen every time I connect it. With about 8000 tracks, this takes some time. Is it normal to build a database each time?

I am reading in the manual (and on the Ford website) about Applink. I cannot work out for sure if my car has this feature. My understanding is that this would allow me to use my Spotify account through the car/screen itself rather than from the phone directly.

I have a strange rattle in the car. It almost sounds like a door or window is slightly open (it isn't!). It seems to come from high up behind the passenger's head somewhere. With the car being generally so quiet, it stands out and becomes quite annoying. Could it be that the panoramic roof isn't fitted properly I wonder? I might pop to my local dealer at some point and see what they think.

Good to hear the Sony upgrade is worth having. I went for this too but am expecting my 'arrival' in September. I hope the indexing thing is not right as my ipod also has a lot of music. I've just had a tidy up to get it down from 9,500 songs as I'd read that having too many can cause the SYNC to not work properly for voice searches.

Out of interest - what device are you using for storing music? I'm tempted to get a USB HD drive and leave it connected. I figure if I leave the ipod connected it will be charging constantly and not be good for either the ipod or car battery.
