Hullage
Hi all. Have been driving my 52 Plate Focus for a while and have rarely used the horn. It does work though. Having recently moved to Hastings, East Sussex, I find myself often on country roads and so, as you should, use my horn to warn any oncomers as I approach narrow and sharp bends. The horn is so feeble I have trouble believing anyone could hear it over their radio. Don't get me wrong, the car has a fresh MOT and so the noise is legal, but I remember previous cars being far more impressive. I am I.T. and D.I.Y. competent and am willing to spend £10 to £20 on a beefier, similar mount and style replacement. It has to be more impressive though and, being on a P/T worker's budget, I can't afford to through the money away on a unit no better than I have. Any pointers towards decent replacements? Honestly, the Missus laughs every time I use it!

Hullage
Thank you guys, got me laughing! However, I really can't do £30 and the other is an "exercise-horn" - I'm a 40'ish accountant, I don't waste my energy! My thumb's right next to the horn button!

Cheap more sensible option - http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/400842099454?nav=SEARCH If that's a straightish swap then perfect, thank you!Theres no wiring loom shown in the images, But it would be more/less a straight swap, But off existing loom plug and fit two insultated female crimp spade connectors to slide on to the males of the horn, If extending of cables is required see this seller for some quality cable, Link: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Twin-Core-10A-amp-12V-Black-Red-DC-Power-Cable-per-2m-/170680456683?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item27bd5915eb&clk_rvr_id=861717698282&afsrc=1&rmvSB=true&ul_ref=http%253A%252F%252Frover.ebay.com%252Frover%252F1%252F710-53481-19255-0%252F1%253Ftype%253D4%2526campid%253D5336640302%2526toolid%253D10001%2526afsrc%253D1%2526customid%253Dskim2061X563692X7dd016fa69b3a5f0b90aaddae463e024%2526mpre%253Dhttp%25253A%25252F%25252Fwww.ebay.co.uk%25252Fitm%25252FTwin-Core-10A-amp-12V-Black-Red-DC-Power-Cable-per-2m-%25252F170680456683%25253Fpt%25253DUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM%252526hash%25253Ditem27bd5915eb%2526srcrot%253D710-53481-19255-0%2526rvr_id%253D861717698282
JW1982
Which type of horn does the car originally have? The lower spec versions of the focus MK1/MK1.5 did have a single horn. The higher spec versions did have a double horn. My experience is that the double horn is much louder than the single horn. It is also possible that your car has the double horn and 1 of them is broken. In that case the horn has lost half of its original power.

Goodkat
You think your horn is feeble? A circa 2000 Accord, not a small car either, sounds like a baby seal farting. It is the most pathetic squeak I have ever heard. The shame I felt when pressing the horn, to show a ponce the error of his driving style, naturally... sounded like mince. My Focus has a nice resounding bark to it, a nice loud 'Toss pot!' Noise, that would make Norris jump. I meant to replace the Accord's horn but I decided that shouting the suggestion that the bad driver likes to shake beans vigorously worked fine. Hullage
Thank you all! Replacement double has been ordered and I intent to mount away from the usual mounting point(s) as these are low enough to suffer road water damage. I don't know if my mk2 1.6LX has one, or two horns but the splitting shouldn't be too hard. ANYTHING is better than the asthmatic-mouse-cough I've got now. Thanks again!
madmole
Many horns can be adjusted by !Removed! the little nut in the centre in or out, try that first. They are prone to corrosion on the Focus though
