Ford Focus (2007) 5 Door Titanium. Front Door Speaker Upgrade, Tweeter Sizes

Hi, I'm hoping to upgrade the front Speakers on my focus, and keep it so everything looks hidden/factory fitted. I know you can get adapters to fit 6.5 midrange/woofers, but I'm finding it hard to find out the diameters of tweeters. A lot of manufacturers, quote the size including the cup mountings, and using them takes the diameter to around 50mm, which I think will be too big. I've seen on a forum a norgwegian guy posted some pics, and he had the original ford tweeter at 42mm, so I'm hoping that I can find tweeters with that diameter without using the flush mount adapters and then secure it to the original ford housing with a hot glue gun. I'm sure lots of people will have done this, but not found much info on how to do tweeters. This norgwegian guy said he chose infinity kappa perfect Speakers as the tweeters seemed the best fit, but they but out of budget. And in uk, you can only get the normal kappa range, and they're rated at 2 ohms, and I don't want to fit an external amp (for now). I'm really keen on the focal ps165fx and was originally interested in Polk audio db6501, but the price of the polks on amazon have suddenly gone up to more than the focals, and my hunch is the focals will be much better, especially for £180. If anyone can help, or point me to a link with info on the tweeters, it'll be greatly appreciated. Also, instead of using the normal sound deadening like dynamat, I was thinking of just putting in a bit of acoustic wadding, which you use on back of bass boxes, as its lighter, and it should slow down (and maybe stop completely l), the rear sound waves reflecting back through. Any help is massively appreciated. And if I can return favour, I will try my best.

Hi,

Use a dremil style tool to cut out the space at rear of the tweeter grill,

ive fitted JL Audio 1" tweeters in place from the C3 650 component set.

Here's the relevant section of my build thread regarding tweeters:

The sound deadening in the doors cant be anything more than 4mm thick and must stick to the panels otherwise it will prevent the windows from going down.

I've used foam speaker baffles in mine front & rear and they are pretty good at enhancing bass inside the car,

Sound deadening such as silent coat or dynamat is good and does make a difference but it also adds a considerable amount weight to the vehicle
