I now change into first when the car has come to a complete stop and its fine. Reverse you have to be completely stopped too. Garryboy1888 Posted January 10, 2016 Share Posted January 10, 2016 Guaranteed stiff gear linkage on top of the gearbox. Theres a video on YouTube. Have a look. I had the same problem when I bought mines. Drove it all the way back from England to Scotland and when I went to pull of the motorway i could barely change the gears. There a metal pin that goes through a nylon sleeve on the pivot arm. As the gearbox gets hotter the nylon expands and make the gear change extremely difficult. That's why its gets worse the longer you drive the car. Usually fine in 30min journey. But any longer and itl begin to get stiffer.
