Backed my 23year old Granada out of the garage today for it's weekly check (its now off the road for the winter) and the radio is completely dead,it turns on,lights up but nothing is coming out of the Speakers, put a cd in and the same thing "nothing ". I'm not even getting a crackle from the Speakers, i suspect it could be the amplifier but don't know how to check if it is before i go and buy a new one, anyone got any ideas.

Unless you really, really want to keep the old radio. There are much better ones available (for very cheap depending on where you look) that are very suitable replacements for the Granada Stereo.

It is genuinely a case of replace rather than fix.

When you have a 23 year old car you don't want to put non standard parts on it,you want to keep it original.

thanks anyway.

Make sure all the wiring is ok at the back. You should be able to check (at least summarily) the speaker wiring with a multimeter (you should have lowish ohms - 2-8ohms on the speaker circuits). As all Speakers have gone at once just check there is not a fuse for the amp section at the back of the radio also - an old fashioned radio/tv repair shop might be best suited for this!
